Fimfiction Favorite Stories Archiving Script · 7:51am Aug 28th, 2014
So umm... I finally decided to do something I should've done a long time ago. I've written scripts to basically archive the whole of fimfiction, but honestly, that's a shitty way to do things, because it eats up a shit ton of bandwidth and hard drive space. Most people don't need a copy of literally every story on fimfiction. Most people really just want a copy of their favorite stories.
So that's what I did. I created a script that archives your favorite stories. Pic related:

Now, this script will not run on Windows. You'll need to run this inside a virtual machine or something, on a GNU/Linux distribution. This script *might* run on OSX, but I haven't tested it, because i'm too poor for apple products. (not like I want one anyway; I've invested way too much time in GNU/Linux) But anyway, if you want to know what i'm running, I created this script on a 'GNU/Linux - Fedora 20' system. Here's a link for those who want it: http://fedoraproject.org/. If you get any errors, it's probably because I ran a command that you don't have. If you're using fedora, just run "yum install blah" where "blah" is the name of the program that I tried to run, but you didn't have.
But... yeah... it's a script that archives your favorite stories. All in one go. Not much to it. I posted this thing on pastebin, so the easiest way to use it would probably be to run the following in your terminal:
curl "http://pastebin.com/raw.php?i=RBSQEBKc" > 000.sh
chmod 755 000.sh
./000.sh
But if you just want to look at the syntax highlighted version, check this link: http://pastebin.com/RBSQEBKc
That's all I can think to say for right now. I haven't slept in a while. If I've forgotten to say anything, I'll probably edit this blog entry later. If anyone has any questions, I LIVE to answer them. No, seriously, I'm a very bored and lonely person, so you will not bother me by asking a question. If anything, you'll make my day. Anyway, that's all for now. See you folks later.
