I want more Babs & Trixie adventures! (Comics 21 & 22) · 9:07pm Aug 24th, 2014
I just read the two latest comics, and I have to say, I was very impressed! For those who don't want any spoilers, skip the next paragraph.
In short: Applejack, Rarity, and Apple Bloom end up in Manehattan where they meet up with Babs. They all end up going to see a magic show, and the performer in stage is Trixie. She makes an expensive diamond disappear, and it's supposed to reappear underneath her hat, but it ends up not being there. The police show up and storm the place, which is when we find out Trixie has been working with them, and that the whole show was a sham to lure out a jewel thief. Without going into the nitty gritty of how things go after that point, long story short, Trixie and the others end up becoming suspects and run from the police. They don disguises and set out to solve the caper on their own. While investigating, Babs learns about Trixie's past, in particular the two times she was in Ponyville. Babs identifies with Trixie because she had done bad things before, too, and wanted to be good from now on. "Us former baddies have to stick together!" she says at one point, or at least something like that. In the end, it's Babs who solves the mystery, catches the jewel thief, and clears Trixie's name. She even learns a little something from Trixie about misdirection. In any case, while this is the main comic series, it really feels like a long version of a "Friends Forever" story featuring Trixie and Babs.
Trixie and Babs had so much good synergy and clicked so well in that story, I really want there to be more stories about the two of them. They could be a duo of sorts, working with the police and solving crimes using Trixie's know-how of tricks and magic along with Babs' sharp wit and street smarts. Or something like that.
Anyway, I think they are a great pair!
