"Metamorphosis" Continues . . . · 1:51am Aug 18th, 2014

So, Chapter 4 - Part 2 of my fanfic "Metamorphosis" is now online. It's only been 8 months, 13 days since I published the last one . . .

Really, I have no great explanation for the delay in getting to this other than . . . LIFE!!

I work full-time at a mental health clinic, and writing fanfiction is only something I do as a hobby during the full snippets of free time that I have. Of course, for the first half of this year, much of that free time was devoted to studying for a national competency exam crucial to my gaining professional licensure, and thus required my full time and attention. Add in family commitments, the usual chores and tasks of daily living, and the mental and emotional fatigue that comes from my line of work, and you may understand why my creative productivity took something of a nosedive.

Then there's the fact that this chapter was a beast for me to write.

I realize that the final product may not seem like much, and I hope that it isn't a letdown for those of you who have stayed with me thus far. But in truth, this chapter has been in a continuous state of production, editing, re-editing, and re-re-editing since January, starting at nearly 7000 words before slowly, gradually being whittled down to its current 5100+ word count. I won't go too much into the behind-the-scenes struggles, other than to say that I am eternally grateful for the patience and counsel of my editor-proofreaders, Nonagon, CrowMagnon, and Zeta040. Without their help, guidance, and sharp kicks in the ass, this story would not be nearly as cohesive and sound as it is.

So what happens now? Well. I still plan on continuing this story and following it through the many plans I have for it. Hopefully now that I'm done with all of my professional testing preparation, I'll have more free time for creative pursuits such as this story. Fingers crossed, everyone.

Oh! Before I forget, make sure to check out the first Interlude chapter in this story. My vision for these chapters is to take a little break and sidestep from the main narrative, on occasion, in order to delve into further character examination and illumination. While the Interludes won't be essential to understanding the story, they will still contain details and events tied to the main plot thread, unlike a sidestory, which is often a separate series of events. Thus, it would be in your best interest to read these Interludes.. Particularly this one.

I think I'll just, leave this, right here . . .

Eeyup. Clinical psychology is my bread and butter. It's a rewarding, if at times emotionally-draining, choice of profession. Still, figuring out what makes people tick is endlessly fascinating.
