Season 4, oh Season 4, How do I think of thee? · 5:05pm Aug 16th, 2014
Where ought I begin with this here blog post. Let's see, how about "hey I'm updating within a fairly decent time apart from the previous blog post." In fact, I'm even uploading early considering my new plans for the blog posts until Season 5 débuts is to instead do them once every two weeks, rather than every week.
I could talk a bit about my upcoming trip to BUCK which I'll be attending with my younger brother as well, but I've already mentioned that in last week's blog post. On the subject of both my brother and things mentioned in previous blog posts, I'd like to thank all those who went on to watch, and even subscribe to our Grin Brothers channel. We're a short ways off from being able to update with new content, but we hope to start that off next month and to upload content consistently with a video each day. An as I certainly don't mind shamlessly self-promoting my own stuff, here's a link to the Grin Brothers channel for any of you who've only recently noticed my return.
So then, what is the topic for today. Well for this blog, I'm doing something simple, listing out the episodes of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic Season 4 in order of my views on worse to best. I shall also be providing links to each respective episode, and where they place on my overall Episode Ranking list by noting how they place out of all 91 My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic episodes(which you can see at all times on my Fimfiction profile page).

26) Simple Ways - A Poor episode with a score of 1.5. It places 87th out of 91.
25) Daring Don’t – A Poor episode with a score of 2. It places 86th out of 91.
24) Filli Vanilli - An Average episode with a score of 3.5. It places 80th out of 91.
23) Rainbow Falls - An Average episode with a score of 4.5. It places 74th out of 91.
22) Testing, Testing, 1, 2, 3 - An Average episode with a score of 4.5. It places 73rd out of 91.
21) For Whom The Sweetie Belle Toils - An Average episode with a score of 5. It places 70th out of 91.
20) Leap of Faith - A Good episode with a score of 5.5. It places 62nd out of 91.
19) Power Ponies - A Good episode with a score of 7. It places 51st out of 91.

17) Equestria Games - A Fantastic episode with a score of 7.5. It places 47th out of 91.

7) It Ain't Easy Being Breezies - A Fantastic episode with a score of 9.5. It places 16th out of 91.
6) Castle Mane-ia – A Fantastic episode with a score 9.5. It places 14th out of 91.
5) Pinkie Pride - A Fantastic episode with a score of 10. It places 13th out of 91.
4) Trade Ya - A Fantastic episode with a score of 10. It places 10th out of 91.
3) Flight to the Finish - A Fantastic episode with a score of 10. It places 8th out of 91.
2) Twilight's Kingdom Part 2- A Fantastic episode with a score of 10. It places 4th out of 91.
1) Somepony To Watch Over Me - A Fantastic episode with a score of 10. It places 3rd out of 91.
Looking back on this list surprises me in many ways; in part because it's been so long since I've watched quite a few of these episodes. I think to myself, shouldn't Filli Vanilli be lower, and shouldn't It Ain't Being Breezies be higher. I look back and realise how certain episodes I thought would be higher on the overall Episode Ranking list aren't, just showing how many great episodes the whole series of My Little Pony Friendship is Magic has to offer.
Overall, I'm very pleased with how Season 4 has turned out. It's had its ups and downs, certain episodes disappointed and others exceeded expectations. In the end none of the episodes went on to kick season 2's The Last Roundup off it's throne of being my favourite MLP episode of all. None of them were even able to kick Season 2's Hurricane Fluttershy off it's throne as my 2nd favourite episode, but season 4 tried hard, particularly Somepony To Watch Over Me. Twilight's Kingdom would certainly claim the spot of being my favourite episode of all if I accepted both parts as a whole episode, though I do not, it must be judged like the others and as such it didn't manage to. Season 4 does have two episodes within my top 10 though, a feat only accomplished otherwise by season 2, and it did succeed in kicking out any Season 3 presence from my top 10 (sorry Just For Sidekicks).
Season 4 was great, stupendous, and I'm hoping Season 5 will be even better. Now I want to hear your thoughts on Season 4. Did you enjoy it? Did you not enjoy it? How many of the episodes within my list do you disagree with the positioning of? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments below.
Season 4, in my honorable opinion, was...just as freaking awesome as Season 2. God, there was just so much to love in this whole thing. From Maude, to the Scoots ep, to the key arc, and the final battle with its Sailor moon vibe. Everything to me jelled just write and it seems like it did to a lot of other people too.
Sadly, since it is over, now I am stuck on what to watch to fill my girls kicking ass quota...

Boy oh boy do my ratings for S4 episodes differ from yours (your five lowest rated episodes, I really enjoyed!). But that's ok, we're all free to have our own opinions and that's fine. XD
Good to see you're getting back into the swing of things though!
Season four was excellent.
I really just enjoyed every minute of it and I had a lot of fun. Twilight's Kingdom is by far the best finale of the series, while Princess Twilight Sparkle is in steady competition with The Crystal Empire for the best season premier! 
It's even hard to pick my favourite episode of season four because there's quite a few that are contenders! Those being:
Trade Ya (FREKNNIWFNE!!! FLUTTERDASH GALORE!!!! <3<3<3 Plus pair-ups of RariJack and Twinkie? Yes, please!)
Pinkie Pride
Bats!
Apple Family Reunion
Even Three's A Crowd gets an honourable mention for Discord being awesome, Discord's song, and also the monster that looked a mix between a Graboid and the flowery plant monster from Jumanji!
Damn it! XD It's so hard to choose my favourite because those four stood out to me the most.
Really though, one of the things I loved about season four was that they took all these tropes from episodes of other shows, and just slanted the box with them. :D They were awesome!

2374920 Season 4 and Season 2 are certainly the champions of quality when it comes to the series, and both have offered an amazing time watching them. The continuing key arc was a great element to season 4, and I'm eager to see what future arcs will be in store for further seasons.

2375020 Interesting to hear that you enjoyed the season 5 episodes that I mostly did not. No season is perfect, and to me, the likes of Simple Ways and Daring Don't were the episodes of season 4 that failed to offer me an enjoyable time viewing them.
Hearing that, I'll be quite intrigued to hear your views on the remainder of my list. How much did you enjoy these bottom five of mine in contrast to how I enjoyed them? Are there are any highly rated episodes of mine that you did not enjoy yourself?

Sorry that I haven't been keeping in touch via Skype, haven't been able to use my old computer in a while due to some issues but they've been mostly sorted out now. Also, saw your recent blog and I agree with the annoyance of encountering roadblocks with a fanfic and not being able to update it in a while; it isn't a pleasant situation to be in. That's why I've been putting The Shy Knight and the Rainbow Princess on hold, in order to be able to get out of the way the other fanfics I've been working on.
One of those things I hope to finish off before returning to work on The Shy Knight and the Rainbow Princess is that collab of ours, Openly Secret Date. I've found the old documents you sent me, and after I get the time (constant work at the moment) I plan to start attributing to it once again. I will need to ask though, is the Google Document version up to date?
Anyway, that can be saved for later discussions; we're here to talk about season 4. Season 4 was a fantastic series, and whilst unlike you I didn't enjoy every moment of it (hence why there are two episodes ranked poor on my list and one rather low rated Average episode), I did considerably enjoy the majority of Season 4 a great deal.
Princess Twilight Sparkle is certainly the best season premier, whilst Twilight's Kingdom is without a doubt the best season finale. As I note myself, if I did consider the two part episodes singular episodes when it comes to my ranking list, I'd certainly have Twilight's Kingdom listed as my number 1 favourite episode.
As for your contenders for your favourite Season 4 episode of all; Trade Ya, Pinkie Pride, and Bats! are all worthy choices, and I can see why you'd personally favour each one of them.
That said, there is one episode you've listed that I disagree with... as lovely as Apple Family Reunion is... it's a season 3 episode, not a season 4 episode. It happens to my 3rd favourite Season 3 episode in fact.
So yeah, season 4 was an absolute blast, and I'm hoping to see Season 5 become even better. That said, it's going to be extremely tough to top such amazing premiers and finales, and I still await the day to see any new season episode manage to claim the throne as my favourite; for now Hurricane Fluttershy and The Last Roundup look quite comfortable in 2nd and 1st respectively. 2377177 Perhaps I should of had Bats! switched around with Rarity Takes Manehatten but otherwise I'm quite comfortable regarding it as one of the top 40 episodes of the series and awarding it a 8 out of 10.
If memory serves correct, the only problems I had with the episode concerned the treatment of Fluttershy within the song and how once again twisted some of the magical solutions seem to be when they are being performed by the good guys. Otherwise it had a great atmosphere, conflict between Applejack and Fluttershy, some great Pinkie jokes, and of course Fluttershy turning into a Fruit Bat Vampire was terrific. So in the end, I enjoyed it, and thus rated it as high as it is. Thanks for the comment, Forum Explorer.

Well, I thought It Ain't Easy Being Breezies was the worst episode of the season by a good margin. >_>
I also would have put Somepony to Watch Over Me in my bottom five for sure. It was in the For Whom the Sweetie Belle Toils range of my personal ratings. That being, below average, where average is 4.5-5.5 range out of 10.
And last pertinent thought is that, although I enjoyed Pinkie Pride and enjoy Weird Al in general, I find the episode wholly overrated by the community. A good to great episode that's reasonably memorable, but gets unreasonably pushed up by celebrity hype.
Oh, and I guess I'm generally biased towards episodes featuring my two favorite pegasi... so hold that against me as you will. XD
For me Bats! is without a doubt the worst episode of the season, and perhaps the worst episode of all time. (I'm not sure which is worse between it and Mare Do Well).
I could write a huge rant about it if you are curious on why.
