    Drabble

Pegasi had a belief. It gave way to tradition, then superstition, and finally to aphorism, but it grain of truth in it persists. That you can tell all you need about someone by the sound of their wings.

Why is there no Changeling story called...

    "All Love Is Unrequited?"

Anyway, it's been a while since I made a blog post for...various life reasons. This is mostly to check in and prove that I am not actually dead. Also that I have written some 25k words of original sci-fi in a month. I am hoping I can keep this up! And give you all a story with jovial insect aliens, sassy AIs, and a mystery.

Apotheverse Universe Bible and Q&A · 2:46pm Aug 14th, 2014

So I have a really rough draft of a universe bible here.

So I welcome questions for this particular universe canon, partly to help flesh this out in case anyone wants to do anything, and partly just because. I might not answer everything, however, if it'd spoil plotlines...

So Celestia tried to mold other ponies to serve as companions to Luna before, and she knew how to guide the government ponies towards he solutions, did she ever manipulate other ponies like that, for what reason?

Also, when did you decide on the Luna/Twilight ship?

2369497 Err, manipulate other ponies like what?

And I dunno. After getting exposed to shipping it just sort of fell into place. I was trying to think who Twilight wouldn't completely outclass one way or another, and Luna was really the only option.

Does the Everfree godling go in the "dead gods" list? Technically it's still alive, though Twilight holds its godhead now.

Ah, good call.

What is the relationship between Celestia and the Dead Gryphon God (he was a Gryphon god, right?) aside from the obvious friendship we saw between them in Triptych. How'd they meet, etc?

2369514

Manipulate like... Maybe something as mundane as making Pony Joe decide against selling his place, I guess the question is how much all those machinations became part of her that she started scheming for everything instead of being straightforward.

2369538 Hopefully something to be explored in Cartography of War.

2369546 Ah, how'd she turn into a schemer?
Well, I see it as this: she is very, very intelligent and perceptive. Her drive, her godlike compulsion is to help her ponies, to give to them full and rich lives...but that's tempered by the fact that if she doesn't give them choices, they're not ponies at all, but puppets. So she strives to make her actions invisible, to encourage ponies into making choices because they're the best choices, not because she says so.

Also, any chances of a more lighthearted story involving Twilight and Luna?

Sorry to be spamming your post with questions. :twilightblush:

Glob, diskworld, or points of light?

Do you have a genesis for the God hoods? They seem more indelible than the creature attached to them. Is their a limited number of them floating in elsewhere, waiting for worthy hosts, or are they spontaneously generated by unique mortals. You said Twilight could have earned her own in time, and Candace turned one down. Poor Aquila, still has his.

2369571 No worries.

Not at the moment!

2369576 Globe. Triptych covers the paradox of truths whereby the planet orbits the sun but also Celestia raises the sun.

The genesis is tricky. Ultimately, gods arise from the Equestrian Dreamtime, but given that gods are in-universe almost narrative in origin, you can't pin down why some gods arise and others don't. There's no specific rule about it. In fact, Twilight is the only/first god to have been mortal. The rest were gods from the beginning.

As far as being more indelible...it's a duality. Gods (outside of the Ouroboros, and possibly He and She) are people as well as powers, living and thinking laws of physics. The Celestia that whispers "gotcha" is the same Celestia that is, in every sense, the sun that gives life to the world.

2369514

I was trying to think who Twilight wouldn't completely outclass one way or another, and Luna was really the only option.

Exactly! I've learned from observation and (unfortunately) personal experience that unequal relationships are very rarely happy ones in the long run.

2369592
So what happens to the Celestia that is the sun that gives life to the world if the Celestia that whispers "gotcha" ever dies? Would it still somehow contain her mind and/or personality? I never really quite understood the deal with Aquila, or else I feel like I'd know the answer to this.

2369927
Well. They're the same being. If you take away half a circle you no longer have a circle. If Celestia did die somehow, the world would spin on, orbiting the sun...but the sun would not rise any longer. The truth of the world would have changed.

As far as the deal with Aquila - it's vague. On purpose. Even in-universe, it's not exactly something that can be defined. We all know that a story can change us more than cold reality, and that's the realm the gods inhabit.
