Season Eight Episode Reviews: Molt Down

This week is a Spike episode? What a re-”molt”-ing development this is!

Let's look at “Molt Down,” the episode that will surely be perfectly normal and have no long-lasting repercussions on a character's appearance.

Season Eight Episode Reviews: Break Up Break Down

I dread going into this week's episode. For today, we discuss matters of the heart. Romance, love, heartbreak, and all that rot. Which means we run right into the most loathsome of all fandom constructs, the kind of thing that destroys friendships and leaves the most brilliant of minds curled up helplessly in a corner, foaming from the mouth:

    SHIPPING.

The child in me is waiting for someone to say "Jumanji" and have everything go back to the way things were.

2363092 I was gonna say Patch Adams

We have truly lost one of the best there is, has been, and ever will be.

Now do you see what suicide solves? Nothing.

Who is Robin Williams?

(He sounds familiar, but I'm too lazy to google it.)

Out of all of Robin Williams' performances, this is the role I'll best remember him for because its not only one of his best film roles, but also his absolute greatest in terms of animation. RIP Mr. Williams. To borrow one of your iconic lines, we ain't never had a comedian like you.

this will take a long time to accept.:ajsleepy:

2363229 I would say overpopulation but I feel it's a bit too soon.

2363229 Huh, he killed himself? :twilightoops:

I never really liked the guy and found him mostly annoying, but apparently everyone else in the world thinks he was pretty much Jesus according to every single site I've visited today.

EDIT: Wow. He really DID kill himself. I respect him even less now.

2363244 :ajbemused: One of the funniest men on the planet.

2364080 Yeah, I get that a lot. Be a bit more specific. Like, what he's in? :twilightoops:

2363168
I never watched movies in English until I started watching this, and even then, never read who the people behind the movies are.

2363298
So, he was his English voice actor?

I think this blog sums things up better than anything I could possibly say.
The first part of the video certainly. :fluttercry:

Depression is an awful thing.

2363931 you're trying to be funny. Its not working.

2364033 well, with all the love and respect being shown during his passing right now one tryhard on the internet adds up to nothing.

2364162 Also I don't think that word means what you think it means. :facehoof:

2364097

A lot. Just a sample:

Mork and Mindy
Good Morning, Vietnam
Aladdin
Jumanji
Mrs. Doubtfire
Good Will Hunting
One Hour Photo
World's Greatest Dad
What Dreams May Come

2364033

Wow. He really DID kill himself. I respect him even less now.

I have no issue with you not liking his work. Williams' movies could be very hit-or-miss, especially his later ones, and he made some genuine shit like Patch Adams, RV, and License to Wed. His comedy style was loud and often quite random, and I understand why that can be off-putting.

But...I have nothing to say about that that quote right here. Just thought I'd let you know that you legitimately pissed me off.

2364184 sorry hun, but if your trying to ridicule someone's speech it helps to point out what the problem is. Otherwise it makes you look desperate.

2364225 i think that saying he "made" a bunch of bad movies is a bit unfair. He's an actor playing a role, he can't control things like a director's bad direction or a bad scriot or role. Ben Kingsley is an accomplished actor, but he's been in some really bad roles as well, you can't blame a chef for your meal if the waitress fucks up your order.

So while he was in some bad films, I think he was probably doing the best he could with what was at hand.

2364162 I wasn't trying anything.

2364225 Patch Adams as well. Thoroughly despise that movie, but Mr. Williams at least made the first time through bearable enough to watch.

2364973 Indeed

2364033

Wow. He really DID kill himself. I respect him even less now.

And any respect I could've had for you has imploded on itself and disintegrated into oblivion.

2365010
Patch Adams is primarily bad because of misrepresenting (and arguably outright insulting) the real life person it was supposedly based on. Still that's nothing new when it comes to Hollywood movies claiming to be based on a "true" story.

Drop the name and it would have otherwise at least been a serviceable work of fiction for the time.

2364033 If there was any possibility of me having respect/like for you, that is gone. Your words are evil and hateful.

2363244
One of the most famous and greatest comedians of our time.
The genie in Aladdin, and Peter Pan in hook. Oh, and the main character in Jumanji.

what's with all the hate? this place views suicide as a highly honorable act or something?....

2366323 i think you need to look up the definition of "tragic".

2366329 >extremely mournful, melancholy, or pathetic:

...and?......

2366339

So what does this sound like? Are we astonished by his death or depressed by it?

Seriously, use your brain once, its not that difficult.

2366323

It views a loss of life, regardless of the reason, as something to mourn. Especially when the person in question is someone that has brought so many people happiness.

2366354 ....maybe you should try to use your brain and form a coherent line of logic to follow in a given discussion as i have no clue what you're even talking about now.....

2366365 what is this "it" you refer to?.....

2366409 my aren't you a wonderful conversationalist......

2366426 coming from the person who was spoon fed 2 answers to a rhetorical question and is still lost.

2366435 my question was not rhetorical.....

2366395

what is this "it" you refer to?

"It" refers to Fimfiction, or more precisely this singular blog post and comments section within Fimfiction.

2366463 ah now i see , but im not sure if that answers my initial question.....

2366442 oh dear god... You were being serious! Dear god, i think I'm starting to lose brain cells now!

Alright, time to learn about something called context. Reread every one of these comments and count how many of them attribute something positive to suicide. As you can see, the only one that does that was done because of trolling. Next, look at how many of them express sadness over his passing. As you can see, the vast majority of the comments were either reminiscing over the things he has done in his life or the disappointment that he will never be able to do anything else from now until eternity.

Next, on the subject of suicide, look at the catalyst to that fire and dissect its contents. This individual not only posted inflammatory remarks on the blog of an individual who has also struggled with depression, but used the decision of the departed as a means to further dislike the deceased and sprout more discontent among the population.

In response to your question of us glorifying suicide, if you look, nobody has taken an active stance and pointed out any pros to Robin Williams death or more importantly the cause. instead, any subject on the matter has focused on his life or the cons of his death. Any comments against the individual who spoked against the suicide has been our responsible duty as respectful fans as well as decent human beings in chastising someone who would spit on the grave of a great individual with something they have struggled with throughout the end of their life.

Now is there anything else i need to explain?

2366500 i see no comments that attribute something positive to suicide here.....

i do not believe that person had inflammatory intent behind those remarks , but we can't know for sure unless we ask him....

but used the decision of the departed as a means to further dislike the deceased and sprout more discontent among the population.

i believe you are taking things way out of proportion here , what 'population' could you even possibly be referring to?......

In response to your question of us glorifying suicide

i never asked such a thing , try reading my question again....

Now is there anything else i need to explain?

certainly....

Any comments against the individual who spoked against the suicide has been our responsible duty as respectful fans as well as decent human beings in chastising someone who would spit on the grave of a great individual with something they have struggled with throughout the end of their life.

why are you so bucking insane?.....

2366500 2366516
I never liked Robin William's movies. I thought he overacted, couldn't stick to a script, thought he was funnier than he was, and in the end, failed to make me laugh. As a kid, I liked a few of the movies he was in, such as Hook and Jumanji, but not because of him. I actually thought he detracted from them, trying to steal every scene he was in. I've never seen Alladin, as it was dubbed in Finnish, and had the singularily best dub ever by one of the best Finn VA's ever.

Now as for suicide, that's more on a personal level as I have lost several people very close to me to them taking their own lives. You put your head on a railway track because you think it's romantic. You shoot yourself in a taxi in front of your parents' house and never tell why. You work for over a year to get rid of drugs and alcohol, get to school, start a new life, then one day you just OD on several shit at the same time. These are from MY life. These are what I've had to deal with.

Suicide is such a nice word. In Finnish the word is "self-murder", which sums it up. You're a murderer and you quit on life. Check it out: The most suicides in a first world country in the world? Finland. At least we used to be. Should be very high on the leaderboards. So yes, I know what it feels like to lose someone I actually care about to them killing themselves. It is the single most selfish, assholish thing that a person could ever do. They don't ask for help, or heck, even if you do your best to help them, then one day you just hear "He shot himself" and never know what pushed him over. All you can do is ask yourself why why why over and over again. So yes, even if someone was a good person in life, if they end it all by their own hand, they are fucking scum. I don't pity them for 'having' to do so. I loathe them for hurting so many people by doing it.

2366716
You know what, I could agree with most everything you have to say except for this one last attitude.

So yes, even if someone was a good person in life, if they end it all by their own hand, they are fucking scum.

That, right there, betrays its own wretched lack of empathy on your own part. It's in every way just as pathetically selfish as what you accuse those who commit Suicide to be.

Now, as a matter of fundamental principal, I personally very much believe that life is a precious gift, and that where there is life there is always hope, and where there is hope there is never a reason to give up. That said, depression can be a harsh thing, and it's almost impossible for those who have never experienced to understand just how crippling it can to live with. It's not just being really, really sad, but being pervasively incapable of feeling truly happy. When struggling with depression, life just doesn't feel worth living, and anything --even oblivion-- can seem like a better alternative.

You called Suicide self-murder, but I think in that analogy you forgot that the perpetrator is also the still the victim. They are someone deserving of remorse and pity, not hateful scorn.

2366516
You must be one of the dumbest people I have ever met.

. what 'population' could you even possibly be referring to?......

A "population" is the countable group of people or things in a system, be it the number of people living in an area or the number of rabbits in a cage, in this example, the population was the comments on the page.

. In response to your question of us glorifying suicide
i never asked such a thing , try reading my question again....

You wrote: " this place views suicide as a highly honorable act or something?...."
Honor and glory are used synonymously here.

. i see no comments that attribute something positive to suicide here.....

Oh really you didn't see anything? "I would say overpopulation but I feel it's a bit too soon."

And for your last question,

. why are you so bucking insane?.....

In any normal circumstances I'd play along with you, but here my sanity is not to be questioned, your ability to follow simple logic should. The only thing insane about me is the fact that I'm wasting time trying to spell this out to you expecting you to understand it.

2366716 you're a fucking scumbag. I have nothing else to say to you. Get off your make believe psych couch and go back to fuckoff land where nobody cares about you.

2366751 Yup. I honestly don't know shit about depression, what with having lived with it for the last 10 years, changing meds every few years cos they don't do shit? Loss of empathy? Or knowing what it feels like and what a cowardly thing it is to take your own life.

I think it's pretty clear that making strong assumptions about someone with no base knowledge really is what the cool cats do these days. I expected better from you, Em.

2366803 Taking into account that the only thing you have done in this whole thread has been to childishly attack and insult everyone who disagrees with you only makes me regard you as a 12-year old kid. Grow up. :pinkiesad2:

EDIT: Oh, a funny thing: I was going to block you, but damn, you were already on my block list.
