Clarion write-a-thon: You can stop now · 9:14pm Aug 10th, 2014
I just got 2 more pledges for the Clarion write-a-thon. This is my fault, for not telling you it's over. You can still give money, but it doesn't count in the rankings (unless you're fulfilling a previous pledge).
If you did make a pledge, now's the time to pay up: Go to http://clarionwriteathon.org, log in, and click on "Support Writers", then on "Fulfill Pledges" at the top of the page.
I've been waiting for an announcement or contact from the contest organizers, but haven't heard anything official. Unofficially, it looks like we took second place. Alyssa Wong, Clarion 2013, came out of nowhere during week 5, raising over $1200 in donations, mostly from her fellow Clarion 2013 classmates. They joined together into a team of 11 writers and pumped most of their money into Alyssa's account. Well-played. 
I blame myself. If I'd been truly evil, I wouldn't have asked you for donations until week 6, like an ebay sniper.
So I don't get to name a Clarion scholarship. But that honor goes to the top Clarion class, not to the top person, and the Clarion 2013 class raised something over $2000 between the 11 of them.
(And I was so looking forward to the Pretty Pink Pony Princess Scholarship.)
I do get a story critique from a pro, though! I haven't heard from them about that yet.
As to whether anybody from outside fimfiction followed the link and came here... I dunno. Look around. Check behind the bleachers. I'm going to ask if I can at least write a guest post for the Clarion blog.
Seriously, you're supposed to say "whom to ask". Does that sound right? No, it doesn't.
Thanks to everybody! That includes Cyper, Southpaw, yamgoth, GhostOfHeraclitus, TheJediMasterEd, AugieDog, and others whose usernames I don't know.
We'll crush them next year, BH. We will drive 'em before us, and hear the lamentations of their fans. This is best in life.
Still, second place and story critique ain't too shabby. So, uh, go us?

I can't help but smile at the thought that your donations might have created some panic for a few people, that they felt the need to snipe in their donations at the 'last minute'. Their method made me think of another more evil strategy to counteract this for next time.
Meh, we tried. I blame you for not writing 1.4m words (or whatever it would have taken for your pledges to bump your class to first). At least now some poor shmuck is going to have to read your pony fanfiction. He might even end up depressed enough to find comfort in the show. Make it count!
I donated by accident thinking it would satisfy the pledge. If it's not going to affect your rank, I won't both bother fixing it.
