First Contact half way! *Lazarus Update* · 2:51am Aug 5th, 2014
I'm half way there, over five thousand words and no actual first contact yet... this chapter is going to be long as Hell... if not longer than Hell itself xD.
Is that a good thing?
Being longer than Hell itself?
Do you guys like the fact that the chapters are slowly getting longer and longer?
I now the only flaw to having longer chapters is that it increases the wait time between each one. Especially with the amount of editors I have so it takes even longer. So do you guys think I should return to only having 2-3 thousand sum words?
I dunno, I like having long chapters but as one wise guy told me.
"Bigger isn't always better."–theRedBrony
So what do you all think should I stick to 5000+ words or should I go back to how the story started with such puny chapters?
Other than that the First contact chapter is coming off slightly clunky, I'm trying to stick to one-two characters instead of constantly jumping between a dozen others to try and keep it straight forward and less confusing... *aaaaand breathe*
But with the help of my editors especially with the return of Teslaponie that might not be a problem for you guys.
Thanks for reading this guys, I hope you enjoyed this as much as I did writing this. And I'll see you, in the next chapter.
K-bye.
5000+ !? Wow, glad I'm not your grammer guy.

Unfortunately I wrote an entire section that would not be scientifically accurate, thus forcing me to cut 1,200 words of pure bullshit. Unfortunately that same section had very nice information on the recent conflict pertaining to the humans reconstruction process.
And I wrote it so cleverly , now I must rewrite it and make it clever again!
If it was longer than hell itself, would it even exist? Would you even exist? Would the Universe exist?
Shut up Morgan Freeman.
No.
I don't mind the longer chapters. I read Human, so 5,000 is basically nothing.
All depends on how deep you are going into the details. If everything is going to be talking about something, that's bad. If there's going to be constant action, that could be fatal at that length (reason why the MEGAS XLR fic pretty much got cancled). However, if you find a good mix between the two, that makes each part timely and important, then I have no problems about this.
I vote for long informative chapters WITHOUT abrupt cliffhangers... No one likes cliffhangers anyways. Seriously, the less cliffhangers you have the better and increasing chapter size should lead to positive results =)
But in the end no one says that all chapters should be exactly 5k +-250 words each, if you feel that something is important and should be described in details as one piece then go for it.
On the other hand, if nothing terribly important is happening then you can have a shorter (sort of intermission) chapter released sooner. There is no need to forcefully prolong or cut chapters, just take on a logical approach and everything will be fine =)
In the end all that really matters is the quality of the story and not whether it has long chapters or short ones
