I see the Dislestia/Fluttercord shipping wars have broken out again. Personally, I like AU (Good) Sombra/Celestia, but not that many people read the comics, and besides, it can be reconciled with Dislestia with a few magic handwaves, so I don't think I have a dog in this fight. The takeaway moral here should be:
NEVER, EVER, EVER, EVER ASK THE SHOW STAFF ABOUT WHETHER YOUR SHIP IS CANON.
Never! Ever! Feel that impulse, and then don't! Before you open your mouth or send that text or vote on that thingybob, consider how bad you will feel if you get an answer you don't like. And then consider that the probability is over 90% that you won't like the answer. (I love made-up statistics. They look so official.)
Second, dragonfoxgirl on DeviantArt is having a contest to celebrate having 500+ watchers. She'll pick a scene from the CheesePie fic she likes best and illustrate it. She's done some amazing stuff, including some things I commissioned. The cover art on Triple Threat and Good Morning, Beautiful are hers, as are two things I've got coming out. I don't know the details. If you've got a DA account, it would be nice to follow her, of course. Here's the link.. I don't know what she's going to choose or how, so those are questions you'll have to ask her.
Now, the last time there was a CheesePie writing contest, I "won" because there were no other entries. This was a pretty hollow victory, I must say, so it would be nice to see other people have an opportunity to have some lovely custom-drawn DragonFoxGirl art.
Finally, I'm hoping to have a new fic out tomorrow. It took a tiny bit longer than I'd hoped, but it's really on its way! It's connected to the story I've linked.

What I'm doing in my fanon is having Discord and Celestia having loved each other in their youth, but this ending when Discord Awoke and turned to evil. Both Celestia and Luna miss Discord's friendship, but over many many centuries they've pretty much accepted it as harsh truth. One of Celestia's motives in trying to reform Discord is that she's hoping she might be able to get her friend back. Luna's less optimistic about the chances of this working.
Luna cared for our world's Sombra (who I call Prince Crimson Quartz), but when he turned to evil this deeply hurt her (because he laid an emotional and social trap for her and essentially tricked her into participating in his evil); the damage done was part of the reason why she became Nightmare Moon. Luna had already been exiled when Celestia met the Good Sombra and fell in love with him, which I think was also true in the comic book (I remember that one of the reasons Celestia wanted to visit that world was to be friendly with the then Good Luna in it).

Oh man, I had to laugh at someone actually asking if Dilestia was a thing to Meghan. But I am totes onboard with GSombra/Celestia (though I wonder how Sombra lasted 1000 years in the mirror verse… he was no alicorn!)
I remember similar arguments breaking out over Luna/Big Mac's kiss in the Zen comic arc.

2327785 Yes--I think Luna/Sombra's a lot more common than Celestia/Sombra. Actually, Luna is still around when Celestia meets Good Sombra, but she's already going "dark" and Celestia is spending a lot of time with Starswirl and feeling a bit lonely. Then she meets Good Sombra and Alt! Luna, who is ALSO estranged from her sister at that point.
Nightmare Moon comes a bit later, but it underlines just why she's so vulnerable.
EDIT: Also, Celestia meets Good Sombra BEFORE she meets Bad Sombra. She and Starswirl aren't even aware of his existence. Starswirl simply guesses that there might be an evil Sombra.

Though I did notice that Luna liked Big Mac. There's a reason she picked him for her example of the importance of a reputation for relative sanity in Divine Jealousy and the Voice of Reason. Big Mac is somepony Luna could easily imagine herself lusting after.

Well, okay, maybe not OFFICIALLY, but I think they try to keep Pinkie out of romantic entanglements. In the comics, she's even more seriously off the wall than on the show. And it's crossed my mind that there could be something in Equestria Girls or what might be a series, Equestria Academy--possibly just a walk-on or a background shot.
So if nothing else, the only ship I really care about probably--PROBABLY--is not going to get sunk. The only other one I like is Alt Sombra/Celestia, and that CAN'T be sunk.
But I am still not going to ask the staff. I'll settle for this.

I still can't figure out why Discord x Celestia is so popular. After all, hasn't Discord doomed Equestria three times already? Heck, the third time around, he could have easily been partly responsible for killing Celestia and every other sentient being if it wasn't for the box. But what do I know about shipping and romance?

There's the whole "Dating Catwoman" thing, where one pairs the heroic with the villainous. And then they've sort of teased it a bit on the show, with the peculiar intensity in all of Discord's interaction with Celestia. He also flirts with her a lot. Often in highly-inappropriate ways (like temporarily stealing her tail).

That is EXACTLY what I said! Discord's a chaos entity. Of course he's also a shameless flirt! Everything he says to anyone is going to be sly and roguish.
I always thought those were apology flowers, frankly. Some people on Equestria Daily insisted that you ONLY give flowers to a significant other, and I pointed out that it used to be good form to send apology flowers to your hostess if you threw up on her rug or something. (Actually, it used to be good manners to send flowers to your hostess, period.) That's not to say that I think his interactions with Fluttershy are romantic, either. Sometimes she acts as though she were his mom. I think she puts Discord, Bulk, Harry the Bear, and maybe even Angel Bunny in the same category. He's a pet.

2327812 No love for Tealove? Because that huge James Bond spread is one of the most brilliant things in that issue. I thought the whole point was that all the mares think Big Mac is sexy and that he should know it, and that he is focused with laser-like intent on getting some nails. Another favorite moment is that in Fleetfoot's fantasy, there's a heavy competitive streak. When she quits the Wonderbolts, they disband; her wedding to Big Mac is all the sweeter because all the mares are in floods of tears that he's married (except for Applejack, of course, with her Best Sister-in-Law trophy, and Rainbow Dash, who simply thinks, "?" That is one of the BEST characterizations of Dashie, ever. So much for shipping her with everything but the kitchen sink. She is totally tone-deaf to romance.

I don't normally line up Pony stallions and say, "hey, I'd date him," but Big Mac reminds me of a nice guy who used to fix stuff and do other nice things. We were buddies, and that was it. If someone said, "choose, dammit! You must choose!" I'd probably pick Fancy Pants, closely followed by Gaffer or 8-Bit from the Shining Armor/Cadance arc. I figure we were all in high school around the same time, so it would be totally legit.

I am having second thoughts on reading those i am afraid my face will be numb from the facepalming I do since I don't think off the wall pinkie is IC Pinkie so that would drive me crazy. Lets say my headcanon of her and the way i see her is why i seem to get annoyed with her being random. But I like Jordan's headcanon better then my own since his explains her randomness. Also ship wars are childish but yet fans do it anyway.

I don't have a DA account. I've never felt the need to have one. Just for entry and stuff, I would probably link Cheese Pie Cake there, but I get the feeling it wouldn't win. I've still gotta go back and edit it to improve some writing too (huh, gotta do that with a lot of my stories). I've also got a CheesePie one-shot in the works too. And you've got some CheesePie going on. There's quite a bundle of CheesePie going on.

Haha shipping wars. Oh that's great. Please, argue about how you believe your OTP is the best out of all of them. I'll just sit here with some popcorn. My main ship may be TwiPie, but I'm an open person to ships. I'll put my points across as to why it's my favourite and everything, but I'm not going to argue about why it's so much better than TwiDash, even if a TwiDash OTP shipper starts ranting at me.

It's because I haven't read the comics, and that's it. I'd rather get into the material before I read fics around it, even if I don't mind spoilers. You talk about Good Sombra and Celestia a lot of the time, and I do see it from what I've seen, but aside from that, I don't know much else. I might read the comics one day. I don't know right now.

Actually, I only ship them as regards the distant past. If you remember my Discord's memories of his youth at Paradise Estate, it's very obvious that they became lovers right before the end:
But it's also very obvious that everything changed when he Awoke, specifically that Discord's Pony-raised personality was sufficently-submerged by his Cosmic-based one that he forgot (at least partially and for a while) why he cared about Friendship and Love. Or Celestia. Though he remembered enough of his friendship with the Sisters that he never seriously tried to kill them, which is saying something given that they were nominal enemies for a millennium.
Now, even though my Celestia very much does remember loving Discord, even though her old friendship with him is one of her motives for wanting to reform him, this is a far stretch from saying that she loves him romantically now. There's a certain issue of broken trust here -- Discord didn't just go off to another town and forget to write -- he wrecked the world and ruled over it for a thousand years as a mad tyrant. In the process he destroyed her home, killed her Earthly mother and some of her friends, indirectly caused the deaths of everypony she knew save for Luna (having broken the Rainbow of Harmony, he'd ended their emmortality), and committed horrible crimes including more than one genocide. Oh, and badly set back their plans to restore Pony high-tech civilization.
Really, the degree to which she still tries to trust him from time to time looks a lot to me as if she trusted him a lot a long time ago, and she still has some hope that the old Dissy will come back to her and be her friend. Maybe not her lover or husband, but her friend.
Aside from the personal betrayal, Celestia's a highly-moral being. The only reason she's capable of forgiving him at all is that she's also a forgiving being, and that she knows that the kind Dissy she'd loved was in a sense just another victim of the evil Discord. She feels sorry for him. But that doesn't mean that she wants love and flowers and hearts and happy little bouncing foals with him any more.
Luna cared (very much) for Dissy too, but she doesn't trust Discord at all. Luna is similar to Celestia in many ways, but she's more cynical on the surface (at the core, it's reversed, Luna's the more idealistic one of the pair).
What Discord thinks and feels is always hard to tell. He's chaotic, but chaotic behavior clusters around "strange attractors," and Discord's about as strange as they come. He certainly cares about the Sisters. He wouldn't kill them. And he seems to remember that Dissy loved Celly, which is I think is why he behaves flirtatiously toward her today. My Discord's active attraction is currently focused on Fluttershy, but that doesn't mean that he fails to remember that Celestia once meant something special to him.

Oh, I think that Big Mac knows it. It's just that
(1) He came there looking for nails, and that's what he's going to get! (And yes, there may be an intentional dirty pun on the part of the original writers there, even though that doesn't acutally happen; and
(2) With the exception of Cheerilee (whom he looks happy to run into) he isn't seriously attracted to any of them. He finds himself kind of liking Luna (because Luna in full flirty-friendly mode is hard not to like) but the others are pure annoyance from his POV. Especially Echo and Tealove.
This may seem cruel behavior on his part, but really, what's he supposed to do? Especially given that he's somewhat shy, not very socially-adept, extremely honorable -- and looking for nails. No, not the verb, the noun. I personally wouldn't have run out on Luna like he did, but I understand why she scared him. The more so because she obviously liked him.

Indeed she is! The main reason why my Rainbow Dash falls in love with my Fluttershy is that they're fillyhood best friends / sort-of sweethearts and Fluttershy manipulates her into it.
I created the arc a bit after the fact, but you can see it if you take the three Flutterarc stories in sequence. In Dragonshyness Fluttershy overcomes the most obvious obstacle, namely that while Rainbow is protective of her just like when they were fillies Rainbow doesn't start off respecting her very much as a fellow-adult -- that is changed when Fluttershy defeats Red Haze the Dragon. Note that it's right after this that Fluttershy invites Rainbow Dash on the Butterfly Migration. In A Robust Solution Fluttershy overcomes her most significant internal obstacle to loving anypony -- her fear, caused by her treatment by Nosey, that she is inherently unloveable. In Fluttershy Is Free Fluttershy tries but fails to explain the dark side of her heritage to Rainbow Dash -- the fact that she fails is very bad for the future of their love, because Fluttershy gives up on trying to explain it, and Rainbow Dash isn't going to realize that Fluttershy's half-Changeling until she receives conclusive proof that the Buzzies are real -- at Cadance's wedding.
Aside from that, the only other romances in Rainbow Dash's life (to date at the end of 1504) are her love for Azure Sky (on the rebound after the Canterlot Wedding, and neither of them know what he really is for quite a while) and what might have been love for Soarin but becomes more of a friendship. Part of the problem is that my Rainbow Dash neither has a strong sex drive nor much patience with complex emotional interaction -- her concept of love is pretty much "We hang out and have fun and it's okay to touch each other." Fluttershy gets this but finds it frustrating at times; Azure Sky accepts this because his concept of love is "We're friends and it's okay to touch each other and she gives me lots of nice tasty love"
Echo's fantasies are hilarious. And rather sad, if you take her as being an emotionally somewhat isolated pony who is in part thinking this way because she's been seriously injured. Even more so if you go with the versions of her in which she's sensorily a Pony version of Daredevil, which isolates her further from most other Ponies.

I wonder why people are so fussed over canon...Maybe I just don't get it because out of all of my otps in all of my fandoms, the only ones that are canon involve characters that are now dead (thanks Andrew Hussie), so idk maybe I just learned that feeling entitled over a fictional character is stupid. There's always shit like aus (already there's at least two canon ones) to fall back on anyway if ur presheus oh teepee isn't canon.
Everyone needs to just accept everyone else's shipping preferences or lack thereof. PERIOD. if ur gonna be a hater geddoutahere!!
