The Code Series - Emerald Flare, Code of Dissonance, and Unrealized Projects

Continuing with a longstanding desire to put old works to rest, this blogpost goes over the extremely scattered notes, ideas, basic plot threads and ideas that would have taken The Code's Apprentice stories to a 5 story... conclusion of sorts.

The Twilight Shadow - Basic Plot Outline Spoiler for Twilight War sequel.

As long promised, below was the full outline - along with a couple of half-finished scenes and a big prologue blurb - for The Twilight Shadow, the Penultimate "Twilight Struggle" story, and sequel to The Twilight War. These are mostly short blurbs, along with chapter names, and a general outline of the final set of events. I have other notes, but they're extremely rambly, and not terribly well

    Looking Back

Been a long time, hasn't it?

I know a lot of you have probably moved on, but I figured I at least owed it to the longtime followers - and continued readers - to finally check in.

    Another year passed.

So if you're wondering where I've been, here's the short version.

Living outside of a home of your own kinda sucks, and my new job is incredibly time and energy demanding.

The long version takes a bit more.

Hey, Guys... · 11:27am Jul 28th, 2014

I love all you dudes, seriously. You're all awesome. But Inky doesn't seem to get a lot of love around here and he really does deserve it.

Without him around, my stories wouldn't be nearly as well polished or as tight in the narrative. And to be honest, his advice and help have resulted in some of my very best work, including parts of Princess Alluring and The Code of Harmony, not to mention his excellent work as pretty much my main cheerleader in getting this fic stuff written. So be bros, and go give Inky's new thing a look. You can find it here in this elegant and finely crafted link.

Also, I've decided that maybe the new Patreon thing needs a post all to itself. Expect that to be coming soon.

You add the dark tag, you lose potential readership. Same with Sad and Tragedy. And Gore, that's gonna kill readership too.

Also not involving any of the Mane 6.

And OCs are basically the kiss of death unless you've established that you can write a badass OC. But even then... It took "Whom the Princesses Would Destroy" over a week to start getting traction on anything. And "Whom the Princesses Would Destroy" is one of the funniest things on this entire site. With the best OCs on the entire site.

Anyway. Yeah. Dark. Gore. OCs. These are all things working against Inky there. You've gotta convince people to read it. Er, by making it compelling, not by saying "he deserves it."

Eh, I enjoyed the first Marks of Harmony a lot but I've generally not really got much of a hard-on for stuff tagged dark on this site. I also fucking hate Trixie unless she's being shipped with Twilight. So that story just isn't my cup of tea.

I'll chime in with JetstreamGW, those tags definitely cause readers to be a lot more weary as they have such a huge range of possible use. The Gore tag for instance could be used due to some battle scenes being described or it might have ponies being graphically mutilated and tortured. Especially when combined with the Dark tag this is a real wild card.

Oh, do you not look specifically for the Dark tag? Huh...
