Season 2 finale · 10:10pm Jun 6th, 2012
This maybe a bit late on bringing up the two part ending for Season 2, but I wanted to finally throw my two cents in. There was much I did enjoy about the episodes. The songs of course, new characters, and a new enemy that can actually be reoccurring. No, I think my problem with the episode was the simple fact I feel Twilight was well... Trampled on. Her friends turned on her, her brother turned on her, Celestia turned on her, and even Spike, who through the show appeared much more empathetic to Twilight than others, ended up walking out on her.
Granted, I can understand their side as well. If someone had come out speaking ill of someone I was close to with what could be seen as flimsy reasons I would possibly wonder about it. This explains Shining and Celestia. Other times in the show, not always but sometimes, she does take things too far or over thinks events. This can also be explained away with previous events in the show. Yet, all it took for her friends to turn on her was a crying bride. And let's face it, how often in shows do character excuse outlandish behavior because it's a characters 'big day' as if they could commit murder and be fine with it? Considering everything that Twilight has done for them, for Equestria, and stood by them, it felt... cheap for them to turn on her so swiftly. No benefit of a doubt given whatsoever.
Everything about this felt wrong for the show. Of course, low and behold, as everyone watching would see coming, Twilight was right. Once again, her efforts pushed to save the day. In the end what amends is given to Twilight? A quick apology and short admittance of being wrong. It showed a testament to Twilight's character that she forgave them so quickly. I would have told them to get bent and left. (after saving the day mind you.)
Did anyone else feel any of this from the show? Or was it indeed just me over analyzing the events and plots? It just felt so wrong to have happen.
