Minor setback. · 7:04pm Jun 6th, 2012
Solutions is going to be delayed. Likely also re-titled. A friend of mine pointed out that Lyra was a non-character as I was writing her, and really he was right. I was going to flesh her out in chapter 3, but I found that I couldn't find a character that made sense in context. There was no 'why' behind the things that she did beyond excusable plot convenience.
I'm going to have to go back to step one and start over. I'm sorry for the delay, and would like to give a special thanks to my beta readers for their assistance with the first draft.
I would much rather wait for the improved version that you release.
As the saying goes. if it's worth doing it's worth doing right.

My thoughts exactly. Honestly, if I've had one recurring weakness it's rashness. I was a bit too excited to crank out another adventure rather than something with meaning and gravity.

Yea, that's pretty much the essence of what my first fic was/is. I just finished writing the final chapter after taking a break from it and let me say that it felt good to be writing for my brash overpowered character. I find that writing a 'just for fun' chapter where you just brainstorm random ideas for your character helps to get the ideas flowing for a more realistic chapter.
Looking forward to it, as you well know.
Good on you, as an author you need to be able to be self critical and there are probably many people who would have gone on without giving this issue any futher thought. (Some of the fics I've read here... )
EDIT: I say and have spelling mistakes in my message

Thanks. I like to think I hold myself to a high literary standard, and part of that is stepping back and starting over when you lose your way.
