New Story - Gatekeeper: Prince of Darkness

Hey there everybrony! It's been a while since I made one of these, huh? Now I know what you are all thinking and don't worry, I'm still working on The Guardian (K)Night, and the revisions are coming in slow and steady. But that's not what this is all about. No, if you're seeing this, it's because I want you to know that I've made yet another story, titled Gatekeeper: Prince of Darkness. It a

Shot in the dark, and a quick cry for help.

Hey there everybrony, InfiniteBrony here. You know, that one guy with a popular story who's update rate is slower than the average lifespan of a small rodent. As you all should probably know by now, my story The Guardian (K)Night is currently on hiatus for review and rewrites. However, it seems I've hit a little snag lately.

Art, Exiles, and Guardians in the Night.

Hey there everybrony! It's been a while.

As is no doubt obvious just by you reading this, I'm back from my self-imposed exile for the first time in three weeks. And my exile has seemed to actually serve its purpose. I'll get right to it though, because I know just what you all want to hear.

    Announcements, Apologies and New Ideas

Hey there, everyone. It's me again. It's been a while, hasn't it? I'm sorry for the wait.

I suppose I'll get straight to the point. The Guardian (K)Night. I know what you're all wondering, "When's the next chapter coming out?" The truth is, I don't know. At all.

I'm back, B*tches! · 1:27am Jun 6th, 2012

*Flying tackle hug*

Oof!

"Author!"

"Well hello darling."

"Its been too long sugarcub!"

"Welcome back, dude!"

*Meep!*

"Ohmygoshyou'reback,wesholdtotallythrowapartyandinviteeveryoneand-"

"I'll admit, even I was starting to miss you."

Wow, thanks everyone, you really know how to make a guy feel loved! It really has been too long, I feel like I haven't seen you guys in forever!

"Yay!"

"Um, Author? You can stop squeezing Derpy now."

*blush* S-Sorry.

"Aw, it's OK. I'm just so happy you're back!"

Me too, Derpy. Me too.

"Well don't leave us hangin', tell us how it went!"

"Yes, please do darling. I must say I am rather curious."

Alright, alright. The final exams were easy, I passed them all with flying colors. To be honest, I'm still not sure why they made me take the exam in Astro-Physics, I was already throwing the curve in that class as it was.

"Good. If you had done any worse than that in any of your classes after I spent all that time tutoring you I might have convinced Celstia to banish you to the moon."

Haha, oh Twilight. Sometimes I love your sense of humor.

"Who said I was joking?"

Uummmm.......

"Nevermind that, tell us about the prom darling!"

Oh, of course. Well... to say it was amazing would probably be an understatement. It was magnificent.

"Oh how lovely! Tell me, what about everyone's outfit?"

Well to be honest, I've never seen so many people dressed up so fancy at one place before. Hell, even I was wearing a tuxedo. Bowtie and everything. As you would say, "Everyone was simply marvelous."

"Oh my! I wish I could have gone with you!"

I don't know Rarity, it was still a party after all. There was a lot of loud music and people dancing all over the place. They even played Party Rock Anthem, and of course I was the only one who could do the entire dace that went with it.

"Wow, that sounds like a lot of fun!"

It was a lot of fun I'm really glad I went. I even had a chance to slow dance with a pretty girl like I promised my mother all those years ago.

"Aww, how sweet."

"Oh, gag."

"Lighten up, Twilight. Anyways, what about yer graduation? Ah always heard it was supposed ta be some sorta big deal."

Yeah, that's what I kept hearing too. Not sure why though. To be honest, all I really did was sit with all the other students from my year in a giant auditorium untill my name got called. Then I walked across a stage in front of a colloseum of parents and families while they took photos and my principle handed me my diploma.

"Well that doesn't sound very cool at all."

I'll admit, it was kind of boring. But it's what happened after graduation that was fun.

"Oh? What happened then?"

Parties Pinkie Pie. Parties as far as the eye could see. Big ones, small ones, some as big as your head. For three days and three nights, all I did was party. In those tree days alone I think I consumed more coffee and 5-hour energy then I have the last year put together. Hell, I didn't even slow down until I woke up on someone else's coach with a lamp-shade on my head and my left shoe missing. I also learned that when you fall asleep at a party not to look in the mirror before washing your face.

"Oh man! That sounds awesome! I want to go with you next time!"

Not all of the parties were raging benders full of wild teenagers dash. Some of them were just little get togethers for me and my family. I even got to see my little niece.

"Aww, and how is the little foal?"

She's doing really well actually. You can barely even see the surgical scars anymore. On top of that, at only six weeks old she can already recognize me.

"Oh, I can't wait to meet the little dear."

I'm sure she would love to meet you too.

"Wow Author, it sounds like you've been really busy.

Yeah, I have Derpy. And I'm really sorry I haven't been spending much time with my girls. And I want to make it up to you all.

"How?"

Lets go spend a day on the town. Baked goods, a picnic at the park, a movie, you name it. My treat.

"That sounds wonderful!"

"Ah agree."

"Count me in."

"Oh, oh, I love having a good time!"

"Anything to get out of this house already."

"Well... there's this new family of baby birds in the big oak tree at the park..."

"Yay! Let's go!"

Alright, it's settled. Just let me check my FimFiction account before we leave...

... Wow. Looks like I have some reading to do.

"C'mon Author, Let's go!"

I'm coming Derpy.

(And you thought your backlog was messed up, huh Glassed? And yes, I did go out of my way and post this only so I could one-up you. U MAD??? )

:moustache: My Body is Ready.

It's just a random way of welcoming someone back....

so....uh.....WELCOME BACK! :pinkiehappy:

I am finally down to 4 unread chapters! HAH! *looks at them* ...Shit... It's from My(stara's) Little Ponies: Friendship is Adventuring... Those chapters are LONG.
-Glassed

:raritywink: Ahhh, graduation...I remember mine like it was yesterday. A gentle romp on the town dressed up in the best clothing money can buy...and yes, of course it was designed by moi.

:rainbowhuh: Closest thing I've had to a graduation is Pinkie's big party for when I first arrived in Ponyville...
:rainbowkiss: I remember it like it was yesterday...

 Graduation...graduation...funny, I don't quite recall mine. I think I was homeschooled a lot on the farm...
:pinkiehappy: Still, I plan a lot of parties, so maybe somepony had one of my parties as a graduation party!

:twilightsheepish: Ah, yeah...graduation. I don't think I spent a lot of time outside the house...just got my three diplomas, then headed home for more reading.

Sounds like everyone had a good time, but what were your degrees, Rarity and Twilight?

:raritywink: Economics, obviously. Any good businessmare needs a background in number crunching!
 Let's see...Transformational Magic, Astro-Physics, Chemistry, and Geography, I think...I've also minored in History.

Jesus Twi, over-achiever much? Way to put the rest of us down.

:twilightsheepish: Don't get me wrong! It was BEYOND HARD, and I was taking classes all the way until the sun went down in order to pass everything! I think I even suffered my first B during those nightly classes...

Twilight Sparkle, the straight A+ student, protege to Celestia, GOT A B. Mother of God...

:twilightoops: Is it really that hard to believe? Sure, I do great in all my classes, but even perfectionists fall short sometimes.
 I don't let it get me down though, because I still learned a lot! And I'm still learning, so tests don't mean a whole lot to me.

Shocking...

 A test is simply regurgitated knowledge; something you correct mistakes with, as well as a guide to sharpen up your previous knowledge. The 'test' part is basically 'remember this and that'.

Now if only I could actually do that...

:ajsmug: Mah graduation wasn't all that. Just hangin' out with the family after I got mah diploma...

And what was your major, AJ?

:ajsmug: Surprisingly, Economics with a minor in Biology. Seemed to suit m'talent, so I took em up in high school.

No secondary education?

:ajbemused: You kiddin'? As if Ah had the time for that higher education stuff.
:ajsmug: Mah education is more than enough for th' farm.

Huh.

*Everyone blinks, then simultaneously turn to Fluttershy, who's been sitting quietly off to the right of the group.*

:fluttershysad: ...What?

I think you graduated from Flight School, didn't you?

:fluttershyouch: After Dash left...I didn't stay long afterwards...

Ah, so you didn't have a graduation either, eh?

:fluttershysad: Cloudsdale isn't famous for its 'graduation parties', no...

Pinkie?

:pinkiehappy: Allllll over it! Oh, and since we're all sharing, how about you, Steel?

Huh...I had a pretty awesome graduation from high school, but I'm still going through college. Currently fighting to get a job so I can keep going into my second year...but I'm majoring in Computer Science.

 Oooo, interesting! What've you learned?

Mostly about programming, current practices. Lots of high level programs like GUIs and such, Java mainly. Learned a bit of Assembler as well, and I dread it with every fibre of my being. Talking to the computer on that level is...ABSURDLY hard.

:fluttershysad: You...talk to computers...? But they don't respond...don't they like you?

Ah, Miss Fluttershy, you misunderstand. This machine here, that we're using; it's inanimate. It's not 'alive'.

:applejackunsure: Then how does it do all it does?

It's extremely complex, but a computer uses electricity in a sequence of signals across the motherboard that is then converted by the CPU and GPU into an interpretable picture on the screen. I haven't learned a whole lot about how the hardware is actually built and how it works, but I do know that all the computer communicates in is '0' and '1'.

:twilightoops: That's a really limited vocaublary...

Did I mention that this computer can do something with '0' and '1' over 2 billion times per second?

:twilightoops:
