Research, and more research! · 4:25pm Jul 18th, 2014
So, I've decided to do a bit more research for Hellblazer of Equestria. What that means is that I'm going back through every issue of Hellblazer, the minis, specials, and Trenchcoat brigade, to help with the fleshing out of the enemies and arcs.
I already know what I want to happen, and how the story is going to end. No spoilers, but I will say that at the moment it rests on being bittersweet. Since I'm basically combining the elements from Hellblazer directly into Equestria I've been borrowing from one of the first arcs from the original hellblazer comics. Basically dealing with a demonic force that constantly hungers and forces people to indulge in all of their vices feeding it with the energy it needs to grow.
It had originally been contained by an ancient mystic, but a local tribal chieftain opened the prison letting the demon out.
Sounds familiar?
Still, I want to make this as exciting, fun, and interesting to read as possible. Which is why I'm adding some of the extra content. That said... One of the things I've heard, not from anyone here, but from a friend who is also reading this, is that Rainbow Dash seems to be straddling the line of becoming OOC.
I will say what I told him. According to Hellblazer, and the Dresden Files, being possessed is the spiritual version of getting raped. It's a massive violation that leaves the victim feeling helpless, confused, and often even believing that they themselves are at fault.
For Rainbow, who has been an independent and strong mare her whole life, this is really horrific. She lost control of her body. Inside she was fighting the demonic force, trying to get them off, and they still managed to take her over anyway. Her acting the way she's been acting is two fold. One, her natural instincts are driving her, and two, she feels safer with John. He's already shown that he can stand against those forces.
Of course Celestia is also acting different, for the same reason. I can only imagine what Thunderlane and Ruby are going through. Speaking of Which... I have an idea, and those of you who have read Hellblazer before could be of some serious help.
One thing John has always had in every issue of Hellblazer has been Chas. Chas is his best mate, and one of the few people who haven't given up on John. I'm seriously considering having Thunderlane take Chas' place. I've been considering it for a while, but I'm not sure.
Do you think that Thunderlane has it in him to be John's friend?
Let me know what you guys think.
