...making Princeps this year's Holiday story (much as KHC was last year's.) Thoughts?

Princeps is already finished. Therefore, I say "Not a valid input", unless you intent to completely rewrite it, or perform a mayor expansion on that story (like bringing it from a novelette to a novel).

Anyway, go a head and make it the holiday story. Should have a few more chapters if it was a plot important story (I vaguely remember something about it was plot important to AGG).

It wasn't relevant to the plot so far, but it was to become relevant once we see some Saddle Arabia in Book 2. The story was about how Celestia had raised Cadence.

Personally, I believe it has to do with how the Cadance situation has made relations between Equestria and Saddle Arabia rather frosty.

They wanted her dead. And her being alive makes her a possible threat to the Saddle Arabian power structure: while that nation is technically a colony of Equestria, the Principality has apparently seen generations go without ever bothering to remember its monarch that he is technically a viceroy under Celestia, and that Celestia has the right to dethrone him and install Cadence the very day she wishes to do so.
As I see it, Saddle Arabia may be the biggest ally to the Purehooves, if not going as far as to be their current stronghold.

Well if I remember from the show the saddles are large and the most horselike of the tribes and they are earth ponies which leaves the question are Pegasus and unicorns a repress minority in saddle Arabia ?
