My first story! · 3:49am Jun 5th, 2012
Well, it seems that my first story is off to a swimming start.
Honestly, I could not physically be happier.
I hoped that the time and effort I put into Lyra Heartstrings and the Hand of Man would be rewarded, and already, my expectations have been far surpassed. To everyone who has faved and commented, or even just read and enjoyed, I thank you from the bottom of my heart.
What will I work on next? I'm not sure, honestly.
I had an idea for a sequel to LHatHoM/crossover/AU of another story published on here, but I don't have an official go ahead yet, so I won't name names in the interests of keeping pressure to a minimum.
Aside from that, I was toying with 3 other story ideas:
"An Orchestra of Liars"
Ever since her adventure in the crystal caves, Lyra Heartstrings has been putting her newfound knowledge to good use: Writing (Plagiarizing) Hard-boiled detective stories. However, when she is approached with a lucrative investigation, Lyra finds herself sucked into one of her own tales, complete with intrigue, danger, and overly cynical dialogue!
"Together, alone."
For ages past, the sister princesses of Equestria have ruled together, jointly providing for the safety and well being of their people. The ultimate authority in the land, it is upon their heads that the price of freedom rests. Recently reunited after one thousand years, they will soon discover that their bill has come due.
"The Door in the Basement."
Lyra Heartstrings is gone. The only clue: a door in her basement that leads nowhere. With the forbidden knowledge she possesses unaccounted for, it falls to her lone confidant, Twilight Sparkle, to unravel the mystery. How will she, and ultimately her friends, face the secrets that lie beyond...
...the door in the basement?
My body is ready for these fics. Great job on your first story, by the way. I loved it.
I plugged the story a bit, but only because I thought it was one of the better Lyra/Human stories I've read.
I really liked the approach to the whole 'There is no/was no line' thing. It's nice to see a story divert from the, 'humans are inherently evil' ideal.
I realize that this would mean a lot more if it were coming from a more established author but...
Thanks for the good read.

No problem. I'm just happy I can provide a more nuanced outlook on these kinds of topics. Our world is a complex one, and it deserves to be recognized as such.
Well done, friend.
I have to say, all three of those ideas sound pretty dang awesome. My favorite, though, is the one with the door in the basement, it just sounds so... mysterious.

That's the one I plan to lavish the most attention on, honestly. If one were to compare the relative "budgets" of these three pieces, I'd say that "Orchestra" was a cheesy B movie, that "Together" was a summer blockbuster, and that "The Door" Would be an oscar nominee, and probably close to my magnum opus.
