So, about that not-writing thing... · 3:09pm Jul 12th, 2014
It's much harder than it sounds!
I tried. For over a week I didn't write any stories, just worked on my masters thesis. That thesis, however, is going much more quickly and smoothly than I expected. So last night I was in my room, in the hour or so I have to myself before I rack out, and I got back to writing some pony.
You might notice there's a new chapter in my short stories collection. You might also notice that this blog post is tagged for Lost Cities. That's because there is a new ruin to explore, far to the north.
So why didn't I just add a chapter to Lost Cities? Because that story is marked complete, and there's something that just seems wrong about adding to a 'complete' story, like I'm cheating or something.
So Lost Cities will just have to stay the way it is. And if I think of any more ruins, they'll find a comfortable home in the collection of shorts.
This short-story aside, I'm still on a temporary break from writing! I mean it! Don't tempt me!
Welp.
Time to get off my ass and read that sumbitch.

Glad to hear it's going so well.
Looks like someone doesn't want to pull off an Eakin.
Hah! Now that I've read it, once again I was expecting a different ruin than the one we got. With the description of "a new ruin to explore, far to the north" I went into it imagining a description of the Crystal Empire in whatever state it existed in during its thousand year hiatus.

Unnecessary Epilogue Disorder is a serious medical condition, I'll have you know. I battle every day to keep it from erupting into full-blown Sequelitus.
Alternatively, if you get more ideas for ruins, you could always just put up a Lost Cities 2.

Sequelitis is bad. You should talk to your editor before a plot develops in your anterior novellum, or you might end up needing a chapterectomy. But at least you don't suffer from hypostoremia like I do. A low typoglobulin count is no laughing matter.
2277178 In the event of a case of Unnecessary Epilogue Disorder lasting more than six months, consult a publisher. You may actually have the more (or less) serious Endless Wheel of Time Syndrome, and it is best treated with the ritual abuse of typical publishing houses (as documented by Prof. Scalzi and Prof. Hoyt) in order to drive the deamon of excessive creativity out of you. In the worst-case scenario where you are still unable to put down that pen, there is a quiet place of peace where you can be among your own kind in the Baen Books asylum and coffee house (open 24/7).
Have you considered adding a link to I'm Afraid of Changeling to the description of "Lost Cities"? That would allow new readers to get the whole picture without subverting the "complete" tag.

That's... actually pretty smart.
Now we need a seapony city. Maybe some zebra ruins? Or abandoned dragon lairs and diamond dog tunnel cities...

CiG thinks I'm smart?

I spent six months reading the site voraciously without making an account, so I find it easier than most to think about how things look to non-members, non-followers, etc.
