Right-of-Birth and You
By: Remington Thompson
Hello, and welcome to an introduction to the family birth-rights. This pamphlet will inform you of everything you need to have and know in order for your foal to be an official part of the Thompson family line. This has been a tradition for over forty generations, starting back with Sage Thompson. Sage Thompson realized, that the permafrost boulders around, what was then the Crystal Empire (Approximately ten years before the fall of the Crystal Empire), could survive inside a volcano for hours before melting, even days for the larger ones. Having an overabundance of foals and a new one on the way, he decided that he could try out his theory that his net foal would survive being thrown into a volcano so long as they were encased in the ice of a permafrost boulder. When his next colt was born, he cracked open a boulder, carved it out, and stuck Soot Thompson into the boulder. Lo and behold, Soot survived, and from that day forward the entire Thompson family line has been going through this process. About ninety percent of the Thompson family survive this ritual. To put that in perspective, Sage Thompson put his ten foals through this ritual, which includes Soot, and only York Thompson died. Each other colt and filly of that decent lived longer than their spouse, except for Gigas Thompson, who died along side her wife. The longest ancestor of Sage Thompson's decent was Hitcher Thompson, who lived almost two hundred years, despite receiving severe soot and ash inhalation problems from staying inside the volcano too long.
What You Will Need
1: Volcano
1: Permafrost boulder (Large enough for your colt/filly)
1: Unicorn (Preferably mastered at ice related things)
1-2: Item(s) to carve out the boulder
Step One: Break open the permafrost boulder.
Step Two: Carve out the boulder.
Step Three: Place foal into boulder.
Step Four: Have Unicorn seal boulder tightly, so that magma cannot seep in and melt your foal.
Step Five: Carry boulder to the volcano and drop it in.
Step Six: Wait thirty minutes and check to see if the boulder is still there.
Step Seven: If the boulder has survived, get the Unicorn to levitate it back out. If the boulder has melted, skip to step nine.
Step Eight: Celebrate. (Don't go on to step nine unless informed to do so.)
Step Nine: Mourn.
