... On followers. No, I'm not going to gun you guys down for not giving 2 fucks about my blog posts. I'm just here to talk about my point of view on following people on FIMfiction.
Well, when I first joined FIMfiction, I'll admit that I never thought I would even get followers, really. I just posted my story and waited for the impact. That same story gave me some followers and stuff around here, and by the end of writing The Lone Wanderer's Journey, I had 20 or so followers. Not that I wanted more, but people just decided to do it, so why complain?
What really annoys me to the depths of hell, is the fact that people can actually overcome good writers by simply following people aiming to get follow-backs. It's annoying! It's easy to detect this type of user by the number of users they follow (I've seen beings following 1k users). It's ridiculous. Like I said above, people should receive follows by their stories and/or by their nice behavior to people! But receiving follows cuz you follow a thousand people a day is simply ridiculous.
Also, another thing that enrages me greatly: Girls receiving follows cuz they're girls. It seems that being a girl automatically grants you a big ass bonus in the subject of followers (Likes and favorites get in this category, too). For some reason that I still have to discover...
Well, what I am saying is that it is not fair to be completely raped by follow-backs who get fame from this shitty method, and it ain't fair to have girls raping your number of follows just because they're the opposite gender. By following someone with the goal to receive their follow, you're showing that:
1. You don't give a fuck about their work.
2. You want fame that can be achieved by other methods (The method of writing is simply dead for me, really)
No, I'm not being a whiny kid wanting more follows: I'm just stating my point of view on this massive wave of follow-backs that erupted on FIM. I think that people should be followed and remembered by their attitude, behavior and work, not by their gender or... well, ways to achieve a high position on a site. It's very upsetting to work hard on something, post it, receive a low number of views and people who fave it for faving and won't read it to the end, AND seeing someone who is clearly achieving their fame and receiving more credit through that idiotic method. Or because they have a pair of tits.
I've seen this happen with me, and it really kills my morale and will to write stories. It really does, people.

i feel the same way about followers. i don't follow someone unless i think they may write more stories i'll enjoy and i get so angry when someone follows me because i followed them and not because i did my job as an author.
Dude, I've had like 3 people give me so much shit for not following them back when they read my piece "Red and Black" and followed me for it. I just told them that I appreciate them following me, but since none of the 3 had ever even posted a story before, I saw no reason to follow them, much less give in to their shit-flinging ways.
Nevertheless, yeah, I agree; this kinda thing just bugs the shit outta me.
