I felt like it, and I did it. Surprising. Surprising that it worked. Surprising that they didn't kill me.
Part for those who read the thing I demand of all:
Before you ask, this is nowhere within SatN. Well, she did become pregnant there, but also kind of dead. Oh come on, that's not a spoiler if you're not through. Did you expect that girl would not die?
Ahem. No, it is not. Unavoidable as it seems, some universes are... different. Twisted nature of what drove Midnight into insanity. Unfortunately, Daylight's death is constant. What becomes of Midnight is not. Occasionally, through the aid of benevolent beyond, she keeps her spirit together and survives with her beloved, to bear the foal. The series involving Daylight the young follows one such timeline.
She retains what she is, though. As shown. She also develops a tendency to focus solely and only on her daughter. I researched on this a lot, actually. From a life like she had, she would develop a ton of motherhood reactions and protectionism. As seen.

Fun fact: Nativity means pretty much the same thing as birth. Am I not clever. It is also a play on how Midnight feels more at home in Ponyville, rather than her native residence. Am I not cleverer. Actually, the opposite of that is true. Still she returns to Canterlot each year, whether or not Twilight comes along, and takes the foal. Great.
Other trivia... The cover art is a direct background of the show. I figured it was fitting for what I needed. Is that not awesome.
In other news, finals are today (that is to say, in twelve hours, writing at two in the morning) and in two days. Afterwards, it's a lot of time for not being driven to eventual suicide. Great. I guess writing might come up sometime too. As mentioned, have found way to edit SatN.
