Father day · 1:06am Jun 16th, 2014
Today is as many of you bronies know Father's Day. A day for us to celebrate our padres and give them gifts like tools and whatnot. And I hope you all did something for your dads because you chaps could be like me.
My dad died back in 2004 of Pneumonia when I was seven. He had been diagnosed with colon cancer eight months earlier and in his already weakened state, succumbed to his illnesses
I've been told by a lot of people that I'm like him in many ways: my looks, my mannerisms, ecetria... But sadly, I don't remember the big guy, all my memories of him were swept away by the march of time. And all I have to remember him by is a photo on my wall (next to my mom) and his old wallet (which I use to this day)
Luckily, my uncle has taken up the title and become a second dad for me in the six years I've been living with him and his wife since they took custody of me
Basically, go tell your dad, uncle, grandpa, stepdad, whoever the heck your father figure is Happy Fathers Day.
And to all you dads here on Fimfic, Happy Fathers Day
Can't. We celebrate in September in Australia. It's only June.

Well, it is over here in the US, my upside down Stig
I salute you. /)
Thank you for saying that.
My dad is still with me, but my grandpa has been more of a father to me than my real dad. Dad had a hard childhood, so he doesn't really know how to be a father, because no one showed him how. Most of the time, he is fin, but others, he acts selfish and immature. I still love him, anyway.
Grandpa has shown me how to build a birdhouse and safely work with power tools, how to split wood the old fashioned way and with a hydraulic splitter, and also how to build a balsa wood airplane. (The thing still isn't done, 10 years later. Need to paint the wings.) He taught me how to shoot (We are in a war against red squirrels at their cabin, they destroy everything and almost burned the place down when one chewed a main power wire.) and how to grow and manage a vegetable garden in soil that isn't that good for growing. (Sandy soil.) Last summer we sealed his driveway and reshingled his garage roof. Those are things that I want to teach my children and grandchildren I guess what I'm saying is, thank you Grandpa.

My grandpa is a senile old racist who I don't even like being around
2211054 Well, he grew up in a different time. You gotta give him a little leeway. Or was he born in the Deep South?
When my mom was little, she came back to from her grandparent's house and asked, "Mom, what's a jiggaboo?"

He has a tendency to use the N word quite liberally even around children
Yeah, the guy was a Dallas cop in the 60s
And he has definitely had a hard life but he is family so I love the old coot none the less.
2211093 I can understand that. My dad is a truck driver. That lead to several interesting situations when I was little. One day, my mother came home and I was walking around the house going "dumdummit. Dumdummit." She asked me where I had heard that. "Daddy said it." "When?" "When the egg rolled off the counter"
Another time was called into daycare because I had called my teacher a dickhead. She had to explain that it was the same as calling someone a poopie head. My response? "Oh."
But, my grandpa has also taught me to swear. Once when I was at their house with Mom and Dad for a visit, I was sitting on the floor of their living room with my toy tools, pretending that I was working on my scoot along fire truck. (you know, one of those things for toddlers) At one point, I said "Shit." put down the tool I was holding, and picked up a different one. Mom and Dad just looked at Grandpa because I said it in the exact tone of voice he uses when he is frustrated.
They weren't mad, because I was only 3 at the time. (My sister and I were advanced for our ages. We could speed in complete sentences when we were 2.)
