Need a name for a Q · 5:10pm Jun 12th, 2014
For those of you who are not also fans of Q, move along, nothing to see here.
Been thinking about getting back to King Who Would Be Man, but I need a "personal" name for Q2. Lady Q is Glory, the Spirit of Righteous Warfare, and my main Q OCs are Isis, Spirit of Motherhood and Passion, Spirit of Love. But, aside from being the Spirit of Annoying My Brother, what is Q2? In my stuff, he used to be a trickster like Q/Discord, but went respectable; now he plays Continuum politics and pulls the same manipulative crap on other Q that Q pulls on mortals. What could he define himself as the spirit of?.
'Mockery, spirit of manipulation' is probably a little too "what it says on the tin" for what it is, huh? I mean, who would just go out an announce they're a spirit of manipulation if manipulation does its best work when people don't realize they're being manipulated? Unless that's what He WANTS you to think... O.0
Eloquent, spirit of words smithing? Or Wordsmith, spirit of eloquence?
I keep thinking of "Loki, silver tongue"

Are we going with the 'last draconequus' idea that each 'spirit' be of something beneficial to the society (whether 'chaos' is a benefit or an exception that proves the rule being a point of contention, here)? Or is it just whatever each Q decides for themselves they like the sound of?
Oh, I'm excited to hear that King will be continuing! I really love that story!
As for Q2...hmmm... maybe 'Judge, the Spirit of Moral Superiority'?
While zabchan offered a very nice selection of ideas, there is one more that might be worth consideration: Quorum, Spirit of Politics.
I would also think a Marvel's Loki thing, although obviously our Q is anything but a Thor type. Or if you'd rather borrow from DC than Marvel, how about the Question? (i.e, makes the rest of the continuum ask uncomfortable questions about themselves). Of course, this is getting into the territory of Quin, so that issue may need to be resolved.
How about the spirit of Intrigue? And if Q has been officially suspended as the spirit of chaos by the Q continuum, maybe Q2 has taken on his aspect as well?
Wow I completely forgot egyptian Isis was goddess of motherhood in addition to magic and queenship. I always thought Hathor alone represented motherhood and fertility, but upon further reading it looks like those two often got combined or had their aspects shuffled.

Jokingly, Xanatos, Spirit of Schemes. If he's kept his name and title from when he used to be a trickster to mortals, and it still applies to his new political leanings, I'd say Sly, Spirit of Cunning.

It's whatever each Q decides they like and feel represents them -- and they take it with varying degrees of seriousness; if I ever take this universe out to later in Q's life and have Amanda Rogers visit Equestria, she will be Amanda, the Spirit of Puppies.

Q2 might actually declare himself to be Mockery, Spirit of Manipulation, because he isn't taking this terribly seriously either. (He's the only one of those I've mentioned so far who manifests as a draconequus, to highlight the fact that he's not interested in Q's little project here, he doesn't really want to integrate with it, so he's just going to rip off Q's presentation. Glory's a dragon, Passion probably took the form of an alicorn but she's dead now so it doesn't matter, Isis takes the form of a curly-maned earth pony, and Amanda would appear as a very large golden retriever with wings and a horn. If I take it as far as Junior being around, he'd take the form of a draconequus as well, but he'd also be explicitly identifying as Discord's son. I kind of think he might be Havoc, the Spirit of Chaos and Warfare, given the interests of his parents and the fact that he's also Trelane. Equestria would be boned... :-))

I kind of like Sly, the Spirit of Cunning. The fact that he spends his time trying to outwit other Q suggests that he has to be pretty cunning, after all. :-)
