Well you haven't really touched on the subject of friends it's more over family right now at this point why not add some where the MC gets a few friends, or something about night time reading. Hell the MC can't go to sleep for some reason and decides to explore the library at night to read some books and finds a book about legends that he reads as he reads it he becomes frighten of the darkness and runs from the library terrified but happy that he's gain a sense of bravery. Those are my suggestions if you don't want them that's fine by me.
The only idea I can come up with goes along with what Aleksandr Sherbet touched on, friends. Celestia is always going on about how important friends are, there has to be a reason why. What that reason could be, I don't know.
The only other thing I could offer is a friendly critique if you want it. If you don't, I will simply say I love this story and I'm hooked. Keep going.
