Why I haven't finished Fool In The Rain · 7:21pm Jun 9th, 2014
There are spoilers, the big ones are spoilered.
It's not that I'm lazy this time, I swear. It's because I don't know how to finish it. Originally, I had a story plan, but most of the plan went out the window when I made massive changes to the first chapter (the original version can be seen here. As you see, it's quite different). The only thing I know about how I want to end the story is that I don't want Fluttershy and Pinkie together at the end.. For more reasons that living up to the sad tag, that's just the reality of the story I've painted, where the theme is Fluttershy opening up to somepony else but also understanding the consequences of it. I'm also a stickler about having most of my stories still fit into canon, so them being together for much longer wouldn't work.
And that's my problem. I can know the general direction of the story, but I still don't know what to do with that. It's very hard to write or want to write that sort of thing. Hell, I think it's my most technically proficient writing and I hate to give it a bittersweet ending after how feel-good the second chapter was. But the whole story was bittersweet, so I suppose it makes sense. So if anyone who read it has any advice on how I could tie it all together within the proposed mold, I'd love to hear it. I've got a few ideas myself, but I find them dissatisfying. I'll tell you if you want me to, I guess. the second purpose of this blog was to help me try to think of something. Writing all this down gives me a slightly clearer picture of what I'm going to do with it, but we'll see what comes of this.
