If you're anything like me then five months is more than enough time to forget a single chapter (I'll try to be faster with the next one.)
So for your convenience, here is a short recap of the fist chapter, plus a list of the most important characters. (this will contains spoilers... duh)
Night Dew and Bird Chaser are visiting Hilltop (a home for ponies with nowhere else to go.) However during the night a filly named Seedling gets foalnapped by a unicorn named Spiler who used to be a friend of Hilltop but for some unknown reason has chosen to betray them.
They track Spiler to his cave where they confront him, and after a small chase overpowers him.
They try to interrogate him but the only thing the manage to get out of him was that he went specifically after Seedling because she was left behind by a pony named Dust Quill. Hearing this Bird Chaser by some reason gets very angry and starts threating Spiler with violence if he don't tell who he's working fore. Before he can actually hurt him he is stopped by Night Dew.
On their way back Night Dew screws up some magic and is sent falling to his doom in a chasm, however, before he actually hits anything he manages to use wild magic and disappears, but not before seeing some weird red strings coming from Seedling that entangled both of them.
Out of the cave Bird Chaser declares that he's going to go look for Night Dew, but will leave Seedling behind at Hilltop.
How did I ever make that span 5k+ words?
Ow well. Heres the characters:
Night Dew
A unicorn that likes to tell stories of his adventures, only augmented a little bit (you know. For better story flow)
He is skilled with magic, but more often than not, seems to be screwing up.
Bird Chaser
A pegasus that travels with Night Dew, at this point not much is known about him other that that he seems to be the rational one of the two.
Seedling
An earth pony filly who have yet to obtain her cutie mark, she seems to be of some interest to Spiler and whoever he's working for.
Spring Dancer
An earth pony mare who is new to Hilltop.
Sun Leaf
The elderly earth pony mare that runs Hilltop.
Spiler
A young unicorn who used to be a friend of Hilltop (until he foalnapped Seedling)
His magic seems to be focused around spider like spells.
