My favorite part of writing. · 11:01pm Jun 3rd, 2014
You know, my favorite part of writing especially for stories such as Lazarus, is the back story. Writing back story is freaking great, especially when you can do it in ways when it isn't info dumping. Which was why I really liked the way I wrote the beginning of chapter one, instead of going like "Archangel a being of pure power killed humanity by fucking with physics and creating a zombish like virus." I broke it up into military radio chatter and news reports.
To be frank, I thought none of you would like it. But boy was I wrong, then came the ideas of the Star Swirl journal entries. Which is practically an entire different story (I already have a few written, but I'm constantly going back and changing them. More will be posted every one or two chapters.) if I wanted to, I could actually take all the entries and make one story.
Why won't I?
Well that's milking the series and I like it this way because then all of you will get to see them. Also it's my excuse to be able to write in first person... *whispers* but don't tell anyone.... keep it a secret!
But to be honest my favorite form of revealing back story is via flash backs! Even if they're not related to the actual story what so ever, not only does it develop your characters, it also unlocks lore. Any type of lore really, like I said it doesn't have to be related. Is it better if it is?
Fuck yeah! That's a stupid question, why would you even ask that?
Really... I don't even know why I'm writing this blog. Maybe I just wanted to take a short break, just wrote like two thousand words on the recent Lazarus chapter. Shamefully it might be only humans.... I really need to ponify this more before I get too distracted on the humans...
Then again the story is actually all about the humans, fuck it's not called "The Rise of Man" for no reason. It's like The Walking Dead, it's not about the Zombies it's about the people! The zombies are like the icing on the cake as some critics like to call it. That's what the ponies are, the icing on the cake. It's not called: "Lazarus: The Rise of Ponies!" Which could possibly make an interesting parody, or ALT. fic.
Could you imagine it?
Ponies rising up and–
oh.... (^Great Story Man V. Pony, if you can get passed the bullshit parts it's a very and I mean very good fic. Nice characters and the mane 6 are portrayed real well. Go do it, like, favorite it. It's awesome... also it has a small amount of sci fi... then again main character is a scientist.)
If you haven't gotten the jist of it already, next chapter is clearly going to be heavily focused on the humans unlike the last chapter. Also it's going to have a lot of back story on one of the characters, but don't worry–
First Contact is on its way, and I won't fuck it up this time.
(mostly because I have a lot of fucking people to slap the shit out of me if I do.)
So how do you guys like your lore?
Info dumped
or
Slowly Leaked
(Be careful the answer may surprise you.)
Hmm... well, as long as it is done well, I don't care how the exposition is done. Heck, the fact that it is there is great. But it does have to be well edited! Oh. Wait. That's my job. Never mind, carry on! Though speaking of editing, dat blog post.
