The Impossible - Getting off the ground · 9:09pm Jun 1st, 2014

So I've not made one of these before... *tap-tap-tap* Is this thing on?

Alright then, let's get straight to the point because screw formalities. I am currently working (and have been for the past two years) on a fan fiction... on a fan fiction site... shocker, right? On the surface, it is a Bioshock crossover. Now before you run for the hills, know that this isn't your regular, run of the mill, 'Place Pony A in Character X's place and trace the game's story' crossover. No. This is a crossover in the sense where themes, ideas, and loose character roles are placed into the pony world in a way that WORKS. It isn't easy, I assure you, but I plan on getting it done and leaving anyone who cares with a story worth reading. That's my goal.

I have about 80% of the development stuff done. Everything is set except... for the writing itself. That's where the challenges lay. I just finished my first year of college, and as the guy who underestimated his work load, I was gut-checked rather hard throughout the year. So I haven't had the chance to really get down and WRITE. Even now, I start my summer job tomorrow, and finding -time- will be difficult. But I assure you this will happen. I won't let this much work, this much sweat, tears, and sleepless nights go wasted. That's a disservice to writing as a whole.

What do I have to show right now? Well, not much. I have my story's synopsis that one can read to see if they're interested and... OH RIGHT! I have a cover, drawn by the amazingly talented JackJacko-Eponymous.

"Imagine, if you will, a city. A city with towers to rival the beautiful skyline of Manehattan, a city as radiant as the shimmering Crystal Empire. A shining star of commerce and industry; a city simultaneously the height of pony engineering and the epitome of pony luxury. As a new age dawned, a golden era of technological and magical innovation, ponykind was to soar past the accomplishments of Cloudsdale, build higher than the architectural genius of Canterlot... A city cast in the one frontier yet untamed--the sea.

Stella Mareis, the Star of the Sea, nestled like sunken treasure beneath miles of quiet water. As a filly, Graceful Knowledge heard stories of it. It was the pinnacle of ponykind, their highest achievement, and their greatest feat. Or so she was told. And growing up in the heart of the occupied Baltimare, walled in from the outside world, she was filled with a desire to be free. She longed for adventure, for new places and stories. When she finds proof that the legendary city is real, she decides to risk everything to escape and go on a quest to discover that, in the end, all may not be lost for her people.

Every city of gold has its secrets, but childhood tales and old, uncovered clues don't tell the whole story. When Grace enters this undersea realm of deceit, genetic-magic, civil war, and the forgotten Elements of Harmony, she finds her own dream spiralling into a living nightmare.

The heart of every treasure chest beats with untold riches. But once you’ve had a taste of this city’s riches, would you be willing to let go?"

And that's about it. I have a deep love for the Bioshock series, and the first game remains my favorite game I've ever played, and one of the best stories I've ever heard. I'm also an occasional pony fan... This story will basically be my love letter to amazing things, combined into one. Two things, I might add, that sound as alike as water and gasoline, but if I do my job correctly, will fuse into something great.

Anyway, if you stuck around this long, I thank you. I look forward to getting this story out.
