Two Hours Later on Brony Recon... · 10:38pm May 29th, 2014
Anyone who knows me well enough to obtain my phone number (a very exclusive privilege) knows that I occasionally suffer from inconvenient lapses in memory. These lapses can vary from a few minutes to two or three hours. Just a few minutes ago, I emerged from a particularly severe lapse that I think spanned an hour. Apparently in that hour, I had decided to write some Brony Recon, but not exactly how I would have liked it.
I also decided to try for a useless descriptive writing award.
When I came to, I looked at what I had written and immediately burst into laughter. Lapse-me had written several paragraphs in Skyblaze's POV that neither was planned nor had any apparent relevance to the story. In it, I see vague references to the Darkness and what I actually have planned for the next chapter, but other than that it's just very descriptive fluff.
Really good fluff, mind you, so I decided to post it here for your enjoyment. Before you ask, no; this will not be how I'm writing the next chapter. Whether that disappoints you or not, it's not happening, guys.
And don't worry, I'm working on the real chapter so it should be out in a few days or so. Until then, have some dark-fluff.
Skyblaze’s POV
Whatever the flash of light was, it was excruciatingly blinding. But however blinding it may have been, I would have prefered having no sight to what I saw next.
Something about the place sucked the glare from my eyes, clearing my vision faster than normal. When I tried to inhale, the air that entered my lungs caught in my throat, choking my airway. After a fit of coughing and wheezing, I adjusted my breathing to match the harsh atmosphere. Blackness surrounded me, so much so that I thought I still had my eyes closed. But after a few test-blinks, I realized that the place was absolutely black.
“Luna!” I called out to my beloved, moving my legs forward. To my shock, it took much more effort to move through the air than it should have, as it it were made of a black gelatin. “Luna, where are you!” Nothing. Not even an echo. “LUNA!”
Abruptly, something brushed against my foreleg. Letting out a yelp and recoiling in surprise, I stared into the black, looking for the thing that had touched me. But there was nothing but dark; choking, thick dark. “Luna?” I chanced, knowing it was very unlikely. Cautiously, I shuffled toward the general direction of where the thing had been. “Hello?”
That’s when I heard a very odd sound. A sort of breezy noise, like brushing your hoof through dried grass, but there were several different places it was coming from, each moving about and never really stopping long enough for me to pinpoint. Okay... I told myself as the noise sent shivers up my spine. This is some weird dream... I had a mental breakdown at the wedding and this is some hallucination of my subconscious.
“...avdni nossicta... dlevnnavr... na anvigr... tosc...”
I froze in horror. In the dark beyond, I could barely make out muffled Archaic words. It wasn’t a whisper, nor did it sound very far away. Rather, it sounded as if somepony was playing a recording on a volume much too low, with something blocking the source.
