Today I learned that letting your fingertip slide under the knife while chopping up habaneros can be painful, and you shouldn't let that happen.

If you do, however, happen to cut yourself with a knife laced with fresh chili, it's important to be using a knife sharp enough to cut cleanly through the fingernail, so that you don't have to rip off a broken piece of your nail from the now exposed tender flesh under the fingernail while that lovely capsaicin juice drips into the open, bloody wound.
