    Regarding Celestia

The season finale was very good, even if I've always liked the "slice of life" episodes much more. I enjoyed this one, and the writers did a good job. I'm still a little annoyed with them. They're very talented, but once again they brushed Celestia aside. At least this time she didn't get taken down by a plant.

    On DHX, FiM, and Trust

I know this is the first time I’ve addressed anything at all outside of a story. Don’t worry, I’ll try to keep it brief… though we all know how that always turns out, don’t we?

Regarding Celestia · 11:45pm May 12th, 2014

The season finale was very good, even if I've always liked the "slice of life" episodes much more. I enjoyed this one, and the writers did a good job. I'm still a little annoyed with them. They're very talented, but once again they brushed Celestia aside. At least this time she didn't get taken down by a plant.

Guys, she's an immortal that ruled the country for a thousand years all alone. No elements (Luna wielded some of them, right?), no Twilight to save the day, nothing. She's fought more monsters than the history books remember. I get why it happens; the show is about Twilight and her friends, not Celestia. Fine. It's a good show, and I really like it. I like Twilight, even if I don't think making her a princess was the right thing to do. That wasn't even the writer's fault.

I'm just saying, every other character has had their moment in the sun. Even Spike got to save the day! Why can't she have one chance? Just one tiny little episode where she gets to show how awesome she could be? We can go back to The Twilight Show afterward. I just want to see her shine one time. Just once. Everyone else, even minor characters, has gotten at least that much. Is that too much to ask? She deserves what everyone else has gotten, right? She just needs one victory where she demonstrates that she totally deserves to be in power. There's even a good message they could put in: "You're never too old to learn from your mistakes and do better. Nobody is perfect." The writers are more than talented enough to pull that off, and there's no reason why they shouldn't try it.

Does this sound nasty? I don't want it to. Like I said, the creative team is great. It's just so frustrating to see such a cool character get the Worf treatment (yes, she has an entry on that page) over and over again. Celestia deserves so much more than that. Does she do anything epic in the comics? I might have to read them if she does.

Edit: Okay, I know what I said, but I've sort of changed my mind. After looking back on it, I don't think I like the season finale. I've got loads of respect for the writers, since they work with time limitations and budget constraints all the time, but I personally was a little disappointed. I know it sounds kind of mean to say, but I expected more out of the other characters. Celestia, Luna, and Cadance just got pushed out of the way to make room for a character that is only supposed to be one of six equally important friends. Even Discord, who is supposed to be even stronger than the princesses, didn't even try to defend himself. So much for the "powerful" chaos god.

I like the show, but I wish the powerful and wise rulers would actually get a chance to act powerful and wise. It's been four seasons, guys. Celestia still hasn't done much more than get kicked around. The poor thing really needs a win, don't you think? I would absolutely kill to see her be the hero in a way that doesn't make her look like a total pushover. I, uh... I joined Twitter just to ask Meghan McCarthy about it. Yes, I know that she's busy and won't answer. So far she hasn't, but I guess I'll let you know if she does.

Don't worry; I made sure to be respectful and polite. While I don't like the writing lately, I still think the writers are tremendously talented and I don't want to insult them personally. I can't stress that enough. Any problem that I've got with the story itself doesn't reflect on what I think of them, since they've given us something truly remarkable, and I'm honestly grateful for the work they put into it.

Anyway, that's why I'm changing the ending of Finding Serenity. Now the Elements of Harmony play even less of a role in it. Twilight might steal everyone's thunder in the show, but she won't here. Until my next story, where she'll play one of my favorite anime characters ever. She just fits the role so well.

Agreed.. l'd also have been pleased if TS had invoked the other alicorns' special powers - instead of a generic Kamehameha (and getting thrown through a mountain... hmm, where have I seen that?)? Bring down a focused sun-ray. Blind him with darkness. Imprison him in crystal.

2110382 Yes, that would have been great. I suppose there's always next season. We've had a Luna episode, right? Maybe Celestia will finally have her moment.
