    Angry PMs

When I get angry PMs from authors whose stories I left a negative comment on, I always laugh. This one I got a few minutes ago is one of the funniest I've ever seen.

Planning a rewrite of Night Fury's Lament

Anyone remember that story? It was one of the first stories I ever wrote, and the first I ever finished. And it has a lot of problems. From edgy OCs, to HTTYD canon-defying moments, to confusing and absurd plot points, to suspicious contrivances and coincidences, and finally MLP characters acting wildly out of character.

Looking back on Trust in the Night

Even after the story has been dead for over a year, I still get PMs and comments asking me for updates on Trust in the Night. What I'd really like to know is why. I was idly thumbing through it the other day and I realised that it sucks. It sucks really, really bad. It has about the same writing quality as those crappy one-shots with the 'X Verbs Y' titles that you see in the

    Ergh

I said I'd start writing these more often. Here you go.

I just had to write a six and a half A4 page poetry response for homework. All in one night wherein I also had about a million other things to do and only an hour and a half with which to do them. Needless to say, I'm a very tired froggy right now.

Sylvia Plath and her depressing poetry will haunt me to the fucking grave.

    Infuriating authors

I don't make these things very often, in fact I'll probably start making them more often, but I'm a bit ticked off right now and that's going to leak into my writing and reviewing if I don't do something about it.

I cannot stand it when well-known and respected authors act in a juvenile and childish manner and no one says anything about it.

Why nothing has updated · 6:49am May 2nd, 2014

So, many of you are probably wondering something, and that something would be, where the hell is Chapter 3 of Trust in the Night, the Animals chapter of Genesis, and The Middle of Hypernova?

Well, the reasons are actually quite simple. I've tagged Trust in the Night here because it has the most followers and also the biggest gap between chapters, but the reasons are the same for all three.

The first reason, and actually the biggest reason, is because it's JumpingShinyFrogs you're expecting updates from. Those of you who follow me, the author, and not my stories, know that I am an extremely slow writer. A month between updates is my standard wait time.

The second reason, and maybe the most interesting one, is that I'm writing a large one-shot in an attempt to break writer's block. The one-shot is currently about half-finished, and has a very original concept (at least, I think it does). For more information, read the thing when it comes out, which should be fairly soon, maybe by Monday.

The third reason is that I'm currently taking part in two large-scale collabs, Forward Unto Dawn, where I write for Rainbow Dash and Luna, as well as editing everyone else's terrible grammar, and Ascension, which isn't out yet. These two collabs are time-consuming, though progress on Ascension has slowed considerably because the head of the project has a real life.

The fourth reason is probably the most shocking. Brace yourself. I have...a life outside of Fimfiction! Exam time is approaching, and it's the Junior Cert. I don't know what you 'Mericans or Brits call it, but here in Ireland, at the age of fifteen or sixteen, when people are in third year, they have to take a huge test for some reason. It sucks major ass, but I've handed up all my projects now, and the actual exams aren't for another month or so. So it shouldn't be as pressing for another while.

So those are my reasons. I know they're terribly inadequate, and I will try to compensate once I'm less tied up, but for now, you'll have to suffer through the update gap.

Seems legit.

Sounds like you're doing the equiv of the Literary Test.

Enjoy the junior cert. I'm sure you will ace those tests. :pinkiehappy:
