There is another story that I'm writing while I work on Inverted Harmony. It is a Green Lantern crossover. I know there's enough of them floating around, but this would be my take on Fluttershy in the iconic role. She is the last pony one would expect to play a fearless space cop, but I think I can make it work with this story. It's not a comedy and it would not be as silly as I've made IH, although there will be plenty of humor here and there. I still believe it will be great.
I want this story to shine, so I picked out a proofreader from the expert list provided by this site. He can't seem to wrap his head around Fluttershy being a Green Lantern; he doesn't think it could work. My argument is that Fluttershy has a great amount of willpower — an example of which being The Stare — and that when she really wants to get past her fear, she can do so and would make a powerful Green Lantern at that time. My setup would have the situation be complementary to her other qualities, as well, to make that choice more logical. His argument is that Fluttershy having a great deal of willpower is a mischaracterization, and the vaguely-sentient green ring would never choose her above the other ponies available, regardless of the setup. It would have to be a different color of ring for it to choose her as a host.
If there is anyone interested, please weigh in with your thoughts. Could Fluttershy make a good Green Lantern under the right circumstances, even for a bit? Would you be interested in reading such a story?
I could see it, if it was well written. Otherwise not relevant to my interests, so far as I'm concerned you're on your own.
