Winter Update for Sunset of Battle

Going to be a short update.

Chapters 15 and 16 are in the final editing phases now. I'm waiting to publish anything however until after chapters 17 and 18 are done so I have the latitude to tweak 15 and 16 as needed. Once the current story arc is finished I'll start posting the chapters on a weekly basis.

    That is all...

    Like I said; short update.

    XD

    A minor alteration...

I made a minor edit to the most recent chapter. There were two little words that had become a massive pain in my arse working on the next chapter. They were, 'to her'. :twilightangry2: It was leading to rabbit holes of character arguments that spiraled into hellish domains where finding a feasible 'out' for Sunset grew dire indeed. After several attempts I've decided to just rip out the root

Nearing the end of Schola Arc, and future planning.

So, as I begin to near the final rise in action for the schola arc of Sunset of Battle I'm looking more and more ahead to what I want to do with the story and where to go next. My general plan is to do a time-skip to when they are novitiates and start the next arc in-media res. But what to do and who to have as the antagonists?

Myths Revision Update #5...? · 5:50am Apr 26th, 2014

Hey everyone,

I'm typing this with a massive stress related migraine, so it may be even more incoherent than normal. Please, bear with me, there is a bit to cover.

First up: If you want to read, or re-read, the old chapters, they are in the Archive. Link is on Myth's front-page.

Second: All the 'old' chapters of Books 1 and 2 are being taken down. This is essentially everything from Book One: Chapter Seven onward. The reasons for this are many. The main one is that as I look ahead I am going to be pretty much gutting the middle of Book One, and this will have a ripple effect down the story. Its simply become a much bigger project than I initially imagined and keeping old chapters up simply to bridge to the new chapters wont work any more. There are simply going to be too many minor and major changes.

Third: There are more New chapters being planned. As in all-new. This would create multiple 'ripples' as chapters get bumped and re-numbered. Because I can't be certain how many new chapters there will end up being, its not even like I can re-number them now. I've learned to trust the fact that me and plans are anathema, and any plot out-line I form now in regards to Book One's rewrite will be useless within a few weeks.

Fourth: I need to lower my stress-load. Simply put, I'm stressing myself too much trying to write four different aspects of Myths related stories spread out across three points in the timeline. I have to lower my work-load and create more focus. I've lost track of the later chapters of Myths, both the tone, the characters, and the thrust of the plot. There is too much in my head, too many plot lines to remember now, and I am too worried and afraid of mucking up the later chapters. By going back, refocusing, and heading forward again I hope to regain my path.

Here are my goals:

-Finish Dreams. This shouldn't be too hard. It's only got 3 chapters total, and Chapter 2 is about 80% complete at this time.
-Finish the Re-Write of Myths Chapter 7, and writing the 'new' 8. Again, this shouldn't be too long. Both are rather far along.
-Keep better notes.

I'm sorry I keep making these blogs.

Don't apologize for blogging. I like hearing your status updates.

As for your decision, it makes total sense. Some scenes were feeling rough with the rewrite and now's your chance to focus on smoothing it out. I was planning on reading each rewritten chapter anyways. The only bad part is that this probably means no new chapters for awhile. That's ok though. I have 80+ stories on my Read Later list I need to take care of and reading each rewrite will feel like a new chapter to me.

^what he said. Apart from the # of fics on the rll. I have 45... Still managing to total over 3M words.

Again, sorry I'm too busy lately to help you out.

Thanks for telling us. Can't stress this enough, never hesitate to take a break from a project or slim down how much you do at once if you need to. Don't feel pressured on our account, we'll wait patiently. Thanks for your dedication to providing quality writing!

No worries. I understand completely. Well, not completely as I've never been in the position you're in. But I understand how your time is far more limited.

Yeah, don't overwhelm yourself. That'll just kill your desire to write at all. Whatever you need to focus and make things fall into place, do it. :)

Been enjoying this for a while, so I'm totally willing to be patient.

Good luck and remember if you ever need help just ask.

Since the chapters are being taken down for the time being, something to consider in the mean time is making book two into its own story and marking it as a sequel. After all, they are being called books one and two already...

No need to decide till it is time to put volume two's chapters back up.

Hope you get better stress wise soon.

I second the idea of just breaking book two into its own fic. Might make it easier to compartmentalize things for you.

Thanks for the updates though - we appreciate them! Just take it one step at a time; we're happy to wait for more writing goodness!

That's an interesting idea. And it gives me a great excuse to commission more artwork from Companda/Saint-Juniper. :rainbowlaugh: Not sure how it would sit in relation to the no-reposting a story rules though. :twilightblush:

If you are unsure, then you could ask some mod.

Actually I have no problem with these blogs.

2048528 The artwork is awesome. Any reason to get them to do more is a good reason in my book.

But speaking of other stories, I may have missed this in one of your other blog posts, but what are your plans for the Queen in Stone? I can understand that it may not be at the forefront since it'd probably take more time than Dreams and less time than the main story, but I'd really like to see the conclusion to Tyr's sicktime story.

Good luck with all this, regardless.

Queen in Stone is in a sad place. I have the first scene done. It's very Downton Abbey-ish. :twilightblush: And I'm into the flash-back portion. I know exactly where I want it to go. The trouble is allotting the time to write it out and to get the ideas flowing.

With Dreams being far shorter, more in the forfront of my mind, and closer to completion, getting it out of the way is the best idea for the moment. I'm looking at a Monday-Tuesday release window for the second part of Dreams.

Velvet could be as little as a week or two after, or months down the road. It all depends on the ideas after Dreams is tucked away. :twilightblush: Chapters 7 and 8 of Myths are a higher priority for me than Velvet, to be honest, so it is liable to be later rather than sooner. :fluttershysad:

I wish i knew of this before i re-read almost the entire story to refresh my memory. Oh well; a rewrite is a new experience as well, and it's not like i have lack of stories to catch up on:twilightoops:

I am following far too many people, so this blog entry got lost in the shuffle. A complete rewrite? Dang, I hope this works out for you. I'm a bit leery, personally. Having dropped an online comic strip after it had restarted for the fourth time, I can safely say that too many reboots can loose you your audience.

I might finally get around to read Myths again. I dropped it (sorry) due to school work increasing. By the time I had caught up, Myths had jumped ahead to 200k words and many chapters had been revised. So I read a bunch of shorter stories totaling maybe 500k words...

It makes sense of you don't think about it.

Hehehehe! Been there, done that. :rainbowlaugh:
