New story.... Ever wonder what the events of Ponyville look like to the ponies in the background? · 2:27am Apr 25th, 2014
A story idea I've had for a long time involved a police detective who just wants a quiet retirement. So he moves to Ponyville. Unfortunately for him, he moves there three days after Twilight Sparkle.
The story idea is old enough that a few details from it found their way into my other stories.
Here is Retirement Blues.
Sergeant Gold Watch is a tough-as-nails detective in the Canterlot Police Department. He has faced hardened criminals, vicious monsters, and cataclysmic threats to the kingdom. He now faces his greatest challenge yet: retirement. Heading to quiet Ponyville, many thoughts weigh on his mind. How can he build a better relationship with his daughter? Where can he find a decent cup of coffee and some fresh doughnuts? And how can he stop thinking about the one case he never solved?
And speaking of the prospect for a quiet retirement, what's this he hears about Princess Celestia's personal student moving here?
The story will involve Colgate, the Cakes, Golden Harvest, and some OCs, including the detective mentioned in the blurb. I've posted the first two chapters, though I'm holding off on submitting the story for now. I have some questions for my readers:
For one, what the heck do I use as a picture for this story?
More importantly, what episodes would you like to see referenced in the story? Do you want to see what the ordinary townsponies thought about a dragon covering their town in smoke? Witness their reaction to an Ursa Minor trampling through the town? Wonder what they thought of Discord's antics?
Regardless of how many chapters I end up writing, it will come to a conclusion prior to the changeling attack. So think about episodes during the first two seasons.
I for one would like to see background reactions (besides the general panic) during and after the fact to the parasprite invasion.
The Trixie/Ursa Minor incident (and return of Trixie) would be interesting as well, though Trixie's return is probably too late.
