Twilight has always prided herself on being a creature of Logic and Harmony. (Yes, they both start with capital letters in her mind's eye!) When Discord said he had had a hand, hoof, paw? claw? in her creation, she was more than a bit miffed. The last thing she was expecting from the trickster was a logical explanation, one that not only called into doubt many of the ideas she held dear, but that changed her very conception of the Cosmos itself.
She also didn't expect to be faced with a choice, one that would have her betray either the pony who had been her idol since she was a filly, or the princess who had been her friend and mentor for most of her life.
As Discord would say, "Them's the breaks, Twilight dear. The choice is yours."
