Updates, Future Works, and Stuff [Story-Tagged - FeMale] · 6:56pm Apr 24th, 2014
(Those seeing this just for the story tagging, the last paragraph is the one you want above all others).
So, I'll go ahead and start with the general updates first. I hope that everyone had a good Easter week/weekend with family and friends. Down here it was a nice chance to relax, catch up with some people, and try a few more types and styles of various alcoholic drinks. And eat crawfish and BBQ'd ribs. It was one hell of a day.
Writing is picking up a little bit. I'm a little bit over 1,000 words per hour, although I still get hung up somewhat frequently. Recently another potential fault of mine has been pointed out as well, so trying to be conscious about dialogue in general, and trying to convey more through dialogue rather than simply rely on the narration and actions to provide the characterization alone. I'm sure now that it has been pointed out to me, I'll notice the fault in other stories of mine. But hey, that's writing. Continue to learn as you do.
I'll be having a new story out soon. For those of you who recall the Halloween One-Shot I wrote last Halloween, The Best Nightmare Of My Life, the concept of that one-shot sat in my head for nearly six months before coming together with something I felt confident in moving forward with. I know that I've already got a lot on my plate, but honestly, the muse dictates what gets written, and so I've got approx 4,300 words of it typed up thus far. So, without further ado, here are some details for y'all.
The Worst Nightmare Of My Life - (All of this is an extreme WIP, just some general info about the story here) A teenager finds her world upended when she is pulled across dimensions into Equestria looking like one of its most hated enemies. Greeted with nothing but hatred, fear, and suspicion, just how will she manage to find her way home? To top matters off, her two best friends get pulled along for the ride, although they are dropped halfway across Equestria from her. Also in new bodies, that of the thestral (more commonly referred to as batpony) and are found by fellow thestrals. Ignoring their nonsense of coming from another world, they are roped into this community, uncertain of the future.
It's definitely a crappy summary, as I just made that up on the spot, but this is proving to be a fun story. I'm doing my first world building without a foundation to go off of with the creation of a thestral-only community, and all the details it includes. Luckily I've got some amazing people helping me out with this, and the editing, so it should prove to be a good read... (hopefully!) This will probably come out some time during May.
Now, the reason for tagging this blog post. I had hit a road bump for some reason in writing the next chapter. I'm past that, and once more, I'll be splitting the chapter before I had originally intended to end it. At the rate things are going, I should have an update ready for Friday afternoon, just depends on how well this last bit of the Orphanage trip wants to play out. Currently I have nearly 4,000 words in the chapter, this will probably end somewhere in the 5,000 - 6,000 range again. Thanks for the patience, and thanks for reading.
