So, I'm happy to report that the new chapter will be going up tomorrow! I cant wait to read all those comments... about... not remembering... things....
Remind me how the king is time traveling through events he has never seen?
My only question is how is Daedalus seeing Rainbow's memories too? If it was explained I missed it.
Look, most of you are okay, and I cant expect you to remember everything in the story. Plus, it normally takes me a while to update this story so I get it, it's easy to forget these things (a few people keep forgetting that Daedalus is humanoid as well.) Since it's taken me nearly two months to finish this chapter, I've decided to post a summary of all of the events so far so you guys can get your heads back into the story.
Thank you, lone clapping changeling. Anyway, here's what has transpired so far...
[Note: I wrote this in a rush because I'm meeting a friend, so if there's any errors, I apologise.]
One morning, Rainbow Dash awakens next to her coltfriend. He is a changeling detective, who moved to the town of Ponyville shortly after the Canterlot invasion to atone for being apart of it (the reasons for why he joined are still unknown.) He informs Dash he must see his king and give him an update on where he is right now. Shortly after leaving, Dash resolves to confess her relationship to her friends.
The next day, the mane six are called together at Rarity's boutique by Rainbow Dash. There, she tells them she is dating a changeling, but does not say his name. In a moment of panic, Twilight incapacitates Dash and takes her back to the library to make sure she's fine. Discovering that she accidentally overpowered her spell (which would rid Dash of any form of mind control) she is then scolded by her friends until Dash awakens. When Twilight realises that Dash is in fact NOT mind controlled, Rainbow begins to recount her story.
Meanwhile, Question Mark (Toxotis) arrives at his changeling hive in the Everfree forest. The changeling's there have stayed hidden for years as the forests paths into the deeper sections of the Everfree keep changing. There, he meets King Daedalus, a light hearted spirit who has ruled as long as the princesses. Like other (real) monarchs of his race, he walks on two legs and has clawed hands. The two talk casually until Question reveals he is dating one of the Elements of Harmony. Daedalus is uncertain if he can allow this relationship to continue, so Question Mark allows the king to use the hive mind to shift through his journey from meeting Dash for the first time, hoping to reassure him that their love is genuine.
The hive mind is connected to all living beings, not just the changeling's, they are simply the only race who can utilise it. However, only king and queen changeling's can walk among the memories of others. Question Mark connects a trail to allow Daedalus to see his relationship with Rainbow Dash. The added benefit is that he can now see things not just from Question's perspective (E.g. following Dash or Cloudchaser.) He first arrives at a bar where Question Mark works up the courage to talk to Dash. Question discovers that most ponies in Ponyville believe Dash is a lesbian from a long standing rumour invented by her bullies from flight school. Question speaks about a haunting case in which he almost broke the law. The detective finally works up the courage to ask Dash out, and she accepts.
The next day, Daedalus discovers that Question has still not let of a case that has haunted him for some time. Then, two of Question Mark's friends (Flitter and Cloudchaser) meet up with him at his house after missing their picnic. Question asks for advice since he will going on a date that evening with Rainbow. This upsets Cloudchaser as she had been harbouring feelings for the detective. The sisters don't let Question know, and despite being cheered up Flitter, Cloudchaser returns home feeling depressed. Meanwhile, Dash seeks advice from Rarity, who advices her to watch how her date acts around other ponies, rather than her. Dash leaves before Rarity can warn her not to turn it into an interrogation. Daedalus moves onto the next memory and that's where we pick thing up...

I'm so happy you posted this and I really wish more authors did this. If I haven't read a story in a long and a new update is posted, sometimes if I can't remember what happened, I just quit reading the story. I wish I didn't have to do that, but I've read so many stories that they kind of blend together over time. I don't want to go back and read sometimes over 100k words of story either to get what happened. So thank you so much for doing this, it was a great idea!
