    Presents, Futures, and Apologies

I'm sorry that I've been quiet and unresponsive for so long. I've been dealing with complicated things in my life for a long time now, and quite honestly I still do. Said things have grown into a needlessly complex mess that have kept me from reaching out to inform the people still waiting for me, and worse yet, left the story of Friendship is Aura incomplete without even cancelling it.

Apparently the Pokémon games approved of me getting to work on Friendship is Aura again...

...Because Pokémon X just gave me a shiny Gible. This is the third shiny I've caught in just the Gen VI games, and this one is a pseudo-legendary of all things, what the hay is even going on?

I'm officially the JonTron of Fimfiction · 6:05pm Apr 13th, 2014

When I said last week that the next chapters of Friendship is Aura were going to be out this week, I was planning to force myself into writing, whether or not the words came to me naturally. I've read different tips and advices on the web that say that if you have writer's block, you should just push through it and put the words down regardless of how you liked them. So I thought "Hey, that'll probably work. I can be a badass on this and get this done like a pro! Bring it on, Friendship is Aura, 'cause I already have the entire thing up here in my head! All I need to do is write it!"

...Little did I know that doing that would be harder for me than beating freaking Dark Souls 2.

The chapters aren't finished. I'm not going to throw a bullsh*t lie at you like "I've been busy with work" or "They ARE finished, but I'm not satisfied with the editing". They just aren't done. I've failed to uphold my promise from last week, and I'd rather tell you that honestly instead of trying to place the blame on something else... I'm sorry. I read your comments and saw how exited you were for more chapters, and... saying I would get them out only to end up failing makes me feel like an incompetent *sshole.

I've tried to write a bit every day, but I end up being so unsatisfied with the wording that I just write 500 or so words a day that I'm happy with. I just can't write more, because literally every single word I write beyond that sounds like garbage. The dialogues don't feel natural, the descriptions are too long and overly detailed, some of the lines don't fit the characters, and sometimes I can't even imagine a particular scene properly in my head. I have the entire plot of the story planned, yes, but actually writing it out in a way I'm happy with is insanely hard for me. Once I'm in "the zone", as I call it, I can write over 10 000 words in a single day and think its awesome. I don't know if that's something other writers go through as well, but that's just how my writing works. And I haven't been in that zone at all this week. I was in it when I wrote the April Fools' chapter, but not now.

I will try to work more this upcoming week (during which I'm on easter break), but right now, all I can do is apologize. It REALLY sucks to break a promise, and I deserve every angry lash you probably want to give me for it.

I know that feel. It normally ends the same way for me too.

Don't say that about yourself, your upload schedule is closer to protonjon's than jontron's :scootangel:

You're not JonTron until you have a pet parrot. Also, I know that feel when it comes to writing chapters.

Haven't even started the newest chapter of War Criminals yet :derpytongue2:

What's up with people named Jon and their poor update times anyway? It's like a curse or someth-
*Realizes that my real name is Jonathan*
OH GOD, THAT EXPLAINS EVERYTHING!!!

2007224 Hey, you could be me. I haven't touched my first fic in almost a year and a half, and I haven't touched my second fic since the beginning of January.

You at least wrote something for April Fool's.

Don't beat yourself over it. We've all have at least once failed to uphold a promise, so I won't hold this, or anything else against you. I like to think myself as a pretty patient guy, so no rush. Take your time, write when you can, and more importantly want to, and take it in stride. I thank you for your honesty, your story, and your effort. If anything, WE owe YOU for sharing with us this amazing story of yours, but I guess a "thank you" will have to do for now. Thank you, if you need anything, just say so.:raritywink:

Eh, just the knowledge that you haven't abandoned the fic is enough for me. I can wait a while until your satisfied with your material.

Kangtheguardian, don't worry, plus there's another John I'm waiting for that hasn't uploaded any proton/video to his channel in a while
Please tell me someone else is waiting for that

It really can be tough hashing out the exact diction in a scene, despite already knowing what direction it is supposed to take along with how your characters are going to make it move. This is a common problem for people with a self-critical eye for quality, since what might pass as acceptable to your fans isn't good enough in your eyes as something for them.

Bottom line: it's your work. Set your own pace, and don't be too concerned with the expected timetable of your fans.

Journal entries like this help people understand the mindset of the author, even if very few people end up commenting on it.

They ARE finished, but I'm not satisfied with the editing"

Looks like I need to take my Job back.

2009756 looking up what that profile pic iiiiiis and OH GOD

It's cool man, I can wait.
