A Christian nerd; probably the only guy you ever met who wanted the Larrymobile to be transformed by the All-Spark. My brother, The Traveler12, is NOT the lamest person you've ever met. Check him out!

Captain America 2 · 4:29am Apr 11th, 2014

Just came back from seeing Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

Batroc. All you have to know about this character, you could probably get from this panel:

Seriously, I love this guy.
Loved seeing Black Widow; since she hasn't really gotten any character development outside of the Avengers, I felt this was REALLY important for her. Especially because the themes of this movie are so pertinent for the character. I'm also glad we got to see her use more of her gadgets, like her grappling hook and Widow's Bite (the electro-gloves); it makes her feel more like a superhero worthy to be on the Avengers.
Falcon was epic; the military backstory gave him a reason to be Cap's sidekick while also disposing of the somewhat-stereotypical ghetto backstory. And I'm so glad he's still a social worker. The wings are probably looking their absolute best, though I still wish the guy would find a suit that covers him head-to-toe so he wouldn't get wind burn.
Jasper Sitwell, NOOOOOO! You were such a nice guy in the comics!
But I was so glad that we got some closure with Peggy Carter's storyline.
It was also nice to see Arnim Zola show up in his out-of-body form, especially considering that they managed to avoid the sheer goofiness of the original rendition. I mean, can you imagine THIS on-screen?

Oh, and Danny Pudi was there for a moment. That was…

You might have noticed I've focused almost ENTIRELY on characters so far. That's because, great as they are, they're kind of the one flaw of the film. There are so many characters that it's hard to know who to focus on. Besides the characters I already mentioned, there's also Nick Fury, the titular Winter Soldier, Maria Hill, Crossbones, and Agent 13. Oh, and Captain America, I guess he's kind of important too. It has the same problem as Thor: The Dark World, though it handles that problem much better than Thor did.
On a similar note, I'm REALLY glad that the first after-credits scene was added. Not just because of Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch, (though that was awesome) but because even with an actor like Robert-stinking-Redford, Alexander Pierce just doesn't have enough to him to make for a good Big Bad. Having someone who can serve as Hydra leader in the long run, who has much greater brand recognition, helped salvage that flaw.
Outside of that though, this was very good. The action is stylish and grounded, the film has a sense of theme that some of the other Marvel films have lacked lately, and the ramifications for the ongoing storyline are enticing. Overall, I'd say this is the third best film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, right behind Iron Man and The Avengers.
Oh, and

Seriously, how did that catch on so quickly?

Dude, you're posting reviews on FIMFiction now? Cool! (I knew you'd be ticked about Sitwell) But I don't think many people will see this if you don't have some followers first.

1999552 I know; this is mostly for the sake of being complete. I posted a similar review on Facebook, where I figure people will actually see it, but I made this one so I could add some points that most of my Facebook friends wouldn't get, and also so I could experiment with the pictures and videos.
And yeah, I know it's kind of a random thing to pull out of the movie, but seriously, why Sitwell? :rainbowhuh: In the comics, he's heroic and was a nerd before it was cool. Couldn't we have just used a random agent? I mean, the character is simultaneously interesting enough to me for me to be angry about his betrayal, but also unimportant enough in the movies that he has no emotional impact on the audience! :twilightangry2:

1999584 A dangerous combination if ever there was one.
