Great answer all of those can be considered a part of the great love that binds us all as human beings.
Greetings! Hope you don't mind me popping in unannounced, but I caught sight of you over in Christian Bronies, and figured I'd visit your profile. You've presented an interesting question, so I thought I'd chime in with my own answer.
True happiness, to me, is happiness that can be shared. The actions that bring me the most joy are the actions which in some way work to benefit others. Actions taken to address the wants and needs of others have always been more fulfilling to me than those that address my own. If anything consistently serves to improve my disposition, it is the knowledge that I have been able to help another, even just a little bit.

Yes, I can see why you would find true happiness in your chosen path, helping others brings a certain happiness and joy that cannot be felt anywhere else.
It is unique in that aspect that we as humans feel such strong emotions by simply helping our fellow man, even if we do not benefit from our action.
Seeing a smile, getting a laugh or a thank you from the ones we have helped is more precious than silver and gold, worth more than any words spoken by a king.
And before I leave you I give you this bit of wisdom.
“Radiate boundless love towards the entire world — above, below, and across — unhindered, without ill will, without enmity.” – The Buddha
