Didn't care for the Pinkie rap, but seeing that many ponies join in to help Rainbow was pretty heartwarming. It was a scene that also reminded me of something else. Hmmm...

I rather enjoyed her rapping. Took me back twenty years. Back when LL Cool J was still rapping. Although that last little bit where she was dancing was all kinds of wrong.

On its own the rap is fun, silly, nostalgic, and the level of animation quality is really just astounding - it's just that it breaks me out of the show's immersion. Pretty much along the lines of the in-your-face references that fan animations are oft to do. Same thing happened to me for Discord's "Glass of Water" song. Unfair as it may be to assume that the show-proper can't do it or else it doesn't feel "authentic," yes, but those are my current feelings on the matter.

Still trying to work out my exact impressions on the sort of direction FiM has decided to take this season. It's either I acclimate or I don't.
