    State of the Author

So a lot of folks have noticed I haven’t been as active on FimFic lately. The enforced hiatus from COVID and the world going into lockdown kind of threw off my writing groove, and when I started getting back into writing I found that the projects I was interested in lived outside the fandom space. I think it’s probably something that was building up for a while before lockdown, anyone who’s

Lunar Rebellion Rising Shadows 2 is off to the Pre-Readers · 8:11am Apr 6th, 2014

Let much celebrating commence.

Debating what to apply the writing powers to next. I've got a rough idea for a fic featuring Storm and Cloud, or revisiting the Phoenix Empire to see what modern Equestria looks like under it's new ruler.

so rising shadows 1 should be out soon :D?:derpytongue2:

More Cloud Kicker?
More Cloud Kicker!
Winning Pony is always the winning choice.

Oh, oh! That second one sounds REALLY good!

I haven't given the time to read Phoenix Empress yet (Sorry ^^"), but just the plot sounded SO interesting

Clearly, we need an episodic Slice of Life sequel to Winning Pony. You know, a collection of mostly stand alone chapters taking a look at the daily life of the most complicated kind-of-triangle-but-there's-an-extra-corner-but-not-really-but-maybe-in-the-future relationship in Equestria.

So many options! I love your history of Equestria, it's all my head-canon now. More of that!

Another idea I'd love to read would be a episodic prequel to the life and times, when Cloud Kicker was just her funny nyphomaniacal self before her life got so messy!

I, for one, would love to see more of the Phoenix Empire. I imagine their Equestria is quite a bit different from ours. Not worse, mind you, but definitely more militarized. I speculate such changes will include:

* An emphasis on civic duty, likely a draft requiring all young adult ponies to give a certain number of years to military service (much like modern day Israel).
* Towns and cities are fortified and boast much larger garrisons to defend against possible invasion/monsters.
* Schools (particularly high-level unicorn schools) would have a greater emphasis on self-defense, tactical thinking, and how to use/defend against battle magic.
* Schools would also likely focus more on trade skills and helping ponies choose their careers, rather than Celestia's laissez faire approach to Cutie Marks.
* Pegasus flight camps would be more like military boot camps, with strict instructors and a focus on combat rather than performance flying.
* Lazy and corrupt nobles would be virtually nonexistent (but not unheard of), because of the emphasis on military service they would be expected to and capable of leading ponies into battle.
* The Long Patrol would be much larger, better funded, and less socially stigmatized.
* The Wonderbolts are more obviously an elite aerial unit, rather than masquerading as performance flyers. Though they may still perform feats of daring do to boost morale.

As for our ponies lives, I'd imagine we'd be seeing something like what we saw in Road Not Taken.

* The incident at Flight Camp never happened, due to greater instructor oversight.
* Fluttershy discovered her Cutie Mark much later in life due to not falling to the ground during an unsupervised race.
* Rainbow's race was a supervised competition (likely common in a military school).
* Shining Armor is much less laid back a captain, due to familial expectations and accusations of nepotism. His relationship with Cadence largely unchanged, but the two now share a history of military service.
* The Kicker clan is much less prominent, though still powerful. The Cult of Shadow is less open (or nonexistent) due to Sunbeam's influence.
* Luna, upon her return, does not take a place as co-ruler but is reassigned as either a subruler (a princess to Sunbeam's empress) or duchess/countess.
* Twilight Sparkle's education was much more focused on defensive and battle magics, making her much more formidable. Possibly less antisocial as Sunbeam would likely groom her to be a leader, both politically and militarily.
* Rarity's designs are likely more practical, with gems as usefully enchanted devices rather than mere decoration, as most of her clients are military. Her gem tracker ability has likely made her very powerful, due to their combat applications (as we've seen with Star).
* Rainbow served in the Long Patrol, where she may or may not have been injured. Possibly still serving. She is significantly less brash due to combat experience and having witness ponies under her command suffer injuries or death.
* Pinkie is likely unchanged.
* Applejack, Big MacIntosh, and Granny Smith are veterans of the Long Patrol and as a result have much more money and influence.
* Zecora is less of a social outcast, due to ponies being more well-traveled and familiar with cultures and species outside of their hometowns and Equestria.

So many options ...

Poniac and Spetrumancer's idea of chronicling Cloud's many sexcapades sounds like (pardon the pun) a winner. There's a lot of potential in that region of her life, not to mention the variety of ways her nights (or days) played out.

Wow, super looking forward to seeing what the Phoenix Empress' Equestria would look like.

1985598 This just sounds awesome

Well just finished reading Life and Times and I really wished I would have read that sooner. I loved it and everything about it. Now all I need to do is get caught up on all of your other fics.

Do you have a tuned super-network of normally distributed neural links that allows you to create connections between fiction and reality? Because there's no way you can write this much. :pinkiecrazy:

I'd love to see more of the Phoenix Empress.

Anything coming up next surely will be enjoyable. I am having a blast with Shadow's adventures. However...

Well, if you are taking opinions I thing I already said it on some past comentary: Cloud Kicker take on the events of Keep Calm and Flutter On. I would love see her dealing with the impromptu roommate of her lover.

But, since I'm still to read "Phoenix...", my opinion on this matter is invalid.

That is actually one of the ideas I'm currently brewing, just need to come up with details like a plot.

After reading 'Phoenix Empress', I think I would love to read what would happen in that universe when Luna comes back from her banishment.
