Season Eight Episode Reviews: Molt Down

This week is a Spike episode? What a re-”molt”-ing development this is!

Let's look at “Molt Down,” the episode that will surely be perfectly normal and have no long-lasting repercussions on a character's appearance.

Season Eight Episode Reviews: Break Up Break Down

I dread going into this week's episode. For today, we discuss matters of the heart. Romance, love, heartbreak, and all that rot. Which means we run right into the most loathsome of all fandom constructs, the kind of thing that destroys friendships and leaves the most brilliant of minds curled up helplessly in a corner, foaming from the mouth:

    SHIPPING.

Today's episode is about Applejack and Rainbow Dash competing.

    The good times are over.

Season Eight Episode Reviews: Horse Play

So hey, it's a new episode. Surely nothing to be excited about. Just another standard episode of a cartoon pony show.

    Only it's a CELESTIA EPISODE!

Prepare for extra spicy biased scoring as we look at Best Princess' newest episode, “Horse Play!”

So...the finale's synopsis came out... · 1:59pm Apr 5th, 2014

It's called "Twilight's Kingdom." Celestia picks Discord over Twilight to track down a villain, and in the second part, all of the princesses apparently transfer their power to Twilight so that she can save Equestria.

Here are my two reactions:

If you need me, I'll be enjoying this week's episode tied to a chair, so that I will not burst free and hurt someone.

...Oh Frak... I'm not sure about you nut I don't think that I'm looking forward to the finale this time around.

M...maybe they'll surprise us...?

Season 3 finale all over again.:facehoof: And that is about the audience reactions, not the episode synopses.

WTF, a super alicorn Twilight? I'm not sure what to think about it...

...Let's be honest here, synospsi are NEVER reliable, so take a wait and see approach and don't go looking for other people's reaction, you'll only hurt yourself.

Oh boy, this again.

Transfer their power?

Please tell me I'm not the only one who thought of this.

1983269 Celestia is giving her power to fucking Twilight as opposed to allowing them to actually do something. That is BS.

This will be interesting. I'm apprehensive, and expecting total failure, but we'll see what comes of it. Maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised.

Exactly. When Canterlot Wedding was first being teased, panic abounded. When Magical Mystery Cure was first being teased, again, panic abounded. Yet, both those turned out to be great episodes in their own right.

Now admittedly, I'm more concerned about this next finale than both of those other two combined. Still, the staff has a history of success when it comes to these things, so I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt.

The show staff pretty much always has the benefit of the doubt in my book, and I am not concerned in this case.

I am putting money on Twilight losing in the first round, as she lies beaten that is when the mane 5 pull together and open the box. Cue Theme music power up as the power is given to all 5 and they are just as powerful as Twilight. In turn they are more powerful together thanks to the power up and they use the combined power to take the sucker down.

Though, wich song would be good for a theme music power up though? "true True firend?" "Moon revenge?" "United?" "That one song from the Winx club special where the girls fought the Trix for the first time?" "The magic knight Rayearth theme?"

Oh sweet Celestia I have got to get a track ready!

They pulled of a fucking Pretty Pony Princess Wedding and made it badass.

I'm not worried.
I believe in the team with an almost religious conviction.

STOP MAKING TWILIGHT SPECIAL!!!

1983505
No they didn't. They threw us two new characters for no reason, a shoehorned villain, and a broken moral.

1983531

Oh no, not you as well!
I don't have any stronger expression of shock than a Pinkie Gasp!

1983542

Don't really have the will to fight anymore. Doing that just leaves you a bitter husk that gets kicked to the curb once it lashes out one too many times.

1983509

Um, wasn't she special to begin with? I mean from season one, she could learn any spell by any unicorn. Also, she's an Element of Harmony, that's as special as you can get. She's Celestia's student, and she's the main character, or did you forget that the first two episodes had her as the focus character?

1983520

Don't worry, I agree with you. I like A Canterlot Wedding.

I will be enjoying myself, and if it does turn out to be bad, well, I'm still a Gargoyles fan even though the imaginary season three of that show was terrible.

One last thing: If there is a shitstorm, as these finales usually cause for some reason, I will be seated in the back and enjoying the carnage! I'm bloodthirsty like that:pinkiesmile:

O_O. Just. O_O

Frankly, I'm more concerned about the episode title than synopsis...

1983612

I will be enjoying myself, and if it does turn out to be bad, well, I'm still a Gargoyles fan even though the imaginary season three of that show was terrible

I thought we agreed to NEVER mention that dream again! Also to add: SuperS, the later half of Jake Long season 2, Buu arc and GT, anything after Honen on Pokemon, DC comics in its current form, and a few others but we are still huge fans.

There is just too much awesome fanfics, fanart, live reads, and audio plays for me and my brother to quit. I'll still be here watching and loving it.

Ugh. Goddamnit Hasbro.

People may see this as a blatant "Twilight is more important than everyone" copout. I see this as an opportunity for Twilight to earn her key.

We have the perfect setup. Twilight feels bruned to be passed over by Celestia in favor of Discord. Then, when the princesses turn to her and offer her power, she will be considered the single most important savior of Equestria; maybe she'll even consider it for a flash. But then it hits her: if she thinks herself better than everypony, that would go against everything she's ever learned about the magic of friendship. Then the rainbow eyes happen, Twilight gets her key, the chest opens, and the Mane Six go Rainbow Power on the villain's ass as equals.

Or maybe I'm just being optimistic. I guess my point is, we wait and see the episode before passing our (self) righteous fan judgment.

All we have is a synopsis. I'm not liking the looks of it either, but we have to wait and see. Seriously, we can't keep making the mistake of throwing shitfests when these episodes come out. It only makes everyone miserable.

That sounds even worse than Magical Mystery Cure, and that is BAD.

On one hand this kind of makes my stomach churn nerve wise.

On the other hand it brings dark thoughts to mind and seeing MLP do something dark sounds interesting.

I Haven't read any of this post.

Thanks. I now will not read a single one of these blog posts until Season 4 is over. Posting this because I have no idea what I'm doing.

Yay.

1984874

Chalk up yet another screw-up for me today.

1984882
Damnit.

No.

Besides, if information about the Finale is out there, then that means I have to keep a watch out myself blinded from anything either here on Fimfiction or on EQD until then. Roughly. I'll have to take some chances.

Anyhow, it's better to find out that information is out there, rather than finding out the details themselves. All I did was read the topic and get brief glances at the post/comments while scrolling down for theses posts.

If anything, I take this as a warning, and an annoyance that I'll have to wait to read your future (and current) posts.

1984910

Now I made things worse.

1984926

Um. Ok then. I guess.

1984948

I'm sorry. This was just an incredibly bad day is all. I understand your point about avoiding spoilers, and I look forward to hopefully seeing you again once the finale has aired.

1984963

I'm sorry to hear that. I don't know what came over me to make that first post. In retrospect it looks far harsher than I intended.:twilightoops:

Know that I hold absolutely nothing against you, and I tend to greatly value your posts.

Unfortunately, I usually lurk rather than comment, so you might not exactly notice my "return" or what have you...

1983667
What was wrong with the latter half of American Dragon Jake Long Season 2? And, in my opinion, the third season of Gargoyles wasn't terrible, it just paled epically in comparison to the complete and total awesomeness that was the first two seasons.

As always, I'll remain cautiously optimistic.

Now let's see. Fandom imploding again in 5, 4, 3...

1985278

I hate 'homecoming' with a firey passion and for me, everything that came after that was very poor quality in comparison to the rest of the show. I just feel like the writers got tied up by Disney and Jake Long suffered for it.

I'm ready to get off the ride. This season has done a pretty bad job in keeping me interested, and if I recall, this was exactly the one thing that most people didn't want to happen with Twilight becoming an alicorn.

And of course, they went and did it.
/mlp/ was, sadly, right again!

1983350
MMC was still a bad episode, though.
The one that shows how to do a musical ep right is Pinkie Pride.

1987949

To be perfectly honest, I'm starting to feel the same way. The crap over MMC really was the beginning of the end.

i herd that oh god oh man thing before , long time ago , not sure from where....

and indeed for that second clip lol "i just want 1 god danm thing to go right"....

now im gonna try to forget what i read on this page so im not spoiled for the season final >_> ....
