For those who saw this blog. I'm sorry. The Lost One reminded what writing is truly about and I guess I lost sight of that over being popular. I sounded selfish some of you didn't even get featured once and here I'm complaining about not getting featured this time. I hope y'all can forgive me.
For those who are confused. Read this:
I little disappointed A Washed Up Reporter's Chance At Redemption didn't even get a lot of attention. I bet if I would of wrote a stupid comedy y'all like and faved it crazy. I mean it felt like I had three followers instead of four hundred. (not counting the new followers) Well it looks like I wasted my time yet again.
It's like if you wanna get popular in this site you either write something stupid and funny. (Like I did twice.) or clop. I'm even amazed Higher Senses got featured because it's not--gasped comedy! It's like I shouldn't have returned from my break.
You know I kinda wonder the same thing about how FiMFiction seems to work, on occasion.
If it's not clop, it better be damn good if you want it to get attention but if it's clop, screw good grammar and everything, right? Featured Box as fast as lightning!
But yeah, that's not to say every clop story is bad, just a majority. And sometimes really good fics get attention, too. But it's a 50/50 thing. I've just given up trying to understand it and just go with it.

Thing is I don't like reading comedy stories that much nor do I like clop.
I have "A Washed Up Reporter's Chance At Redemption" in my read later queue because I like sad and tragic stories. I can't say I've been in your position before, I know for sure that I haven't because I've only got 10 followers, but writing isn't about the views, or likes that you get. Writing is about expressing your thoughts, feelings, and creativity through a written medium.
Don't let the lack of attention make you angry because there are people out there who do pay attention and who like stuff outside of what has become the norm of this website.

How do you think I felt when I debuted Flight of the Pegasi? I'd talked it up for two weeks, had a few people blog about it, five pre-readers and everything. Now look at it: even after an EqD feature, it's still only sitting at 35:2. It actually gained that second thumb down with the feature. But I'm not overly worried.
My new fic, though... if that doesn't knock people outta the park with the concept, I don't know what will.

I am, in general, a sad and dark author. I can write dark things and dystopian things because that's my specialty. But those things almost never get featured or even liked. Like, at all. My favorite fic only has about 40 likes and like 6 dislikes. Yeah. Not so great.
Comedy and clop are the only things that ever get featured. Most of the time they're short (unless it's clop) and like 1000-3000 words.
In fact, sometimes I think I should just write clop (haha nope not ever) and be done with it. Because I can't handle comedy 1000-3000 words.
I, for one, like sad things. I liked your story.

I personally have not written a single story before so I have not been in this type of situation in terms of writing.
However, from my past experience, you don't have to feel so bad. You're just having one of those days.
You're a good writer. You just have to keep that spirit up. Don't let this little setback get you down, and even if you fall, get right back up~!

Not only comedies and clopfics get featured, y'know? Well, yes, those two get featured more commonly than the other tags, but it's just how the people in this site roll.. they only like stupid comedies and hawt clopfics. I've never gotten featured before, and tbh, it's not something I'm aiming a lot for. Just wanna get out some fics of mine before the year ends, and I'll be happy.
And there's no need to apologize, I'm sure you can do a lot better my friend. You're a pretty great author in my opinion~

I'd like you to know that even if all your followers leave, I'll still be here, because I think you have some of the best ideas I've read on this site.
While it isn't only clip and comedy that's featured, I'm happy for you that's you've been featured for what you've written.
1981056 Lost, I personally agree with your view on stories. To me sad stories are what truly test a writer's capability to reach out to the feeling of their readers and to show they know how to put together a story. Comedy and clop seem to be featured more, but I think the sadder stories should be given a lot more attention than they get and hopefully show up in the featured box for the entire site to see.
Complaining will get you no where on this site. Don't worry about that pointless waste of time Featured Box because 95% of the shit that makes it there is complete and utter garbage and not worth the read at all. I wouldn't care if I've never got featured again because I don't want my fic in that garbage filled trash can Featured Box. Same goes for that secondary trash can they call the Popular Box. Don't write to get popular expecting ponies to love your work and defiantly don't write to just get in the featured box of shitiness. Write because that's what you love to do and if you get just one measly like or one little comment saying "Hey this was coo!" on your fic then your fic is a success regardless of how many dislikes it may have because that one pony that gave you that measly like or that little comment sat down and took time out of their day because they felt that your story was worth reading. There is times when you won't get that one like or one comment and that will make you feel down or discouraged about your work. The one thing you should never do is this situation is blame your followers for your lack of success. That's a huge no-no and the fact you even have followers means ponies enjoy what your doing and that's another big success right there. So don't be sore about your first flop every pony has one just brush off and try again.

Sad stories given more attention?! What is this madness?!
In all seriousness though, I can understand why a lot of people don't like sad stories as much as comedy. Most come to the site to read something upbeat and happy that makes their day better and lightens up the mood when they're down. I don't blame them.
I have what, 6 comedic favorites out of my 45 favorites? Most of which either have a dark tag with it or a slice of life tag, some have both. Comedy isn't really my cup of tea while to others it may be their cup of joe. Clop I have 0 of, nuff said.
It would be great for sad, tragedies, and or dark fics to show up more in the featured box rather than the usual clop or comedy fics that appear in it. At least some good sad, tragic, or dark fics. Some stories are great, don't get me wrong, but I want something more than just clop or comedy filling that featured box.
Love, tolerance, and forgiveness my friend. Tis the embodiment of the Brony community. I love what you write and will continue to love it even if the site is taken down because you're one of inspirations to keep writing. I'm slowly reading through each of your stories, the next one on the list (2 before I get to A Washed Up Reporter's Chance At Redemption) is The Asylum inside my head.
