And the deal is · 11:40pm May 20th, 2012
I had someone ask me what the deal was with Hitch-22. I sort of answered, but I think I got to answer to myself as well.
The answer it's something I'm mostly doing for myself. It's something difficult for me to write, and something well outside of my comfort zone. I always wanted to try Heller's style, because it is so completely unlike my own. Unfortunately, I'm taking the good with the bad, and since my comedic sense is different from Heller's, I'm probably trying to fill shoes far too big for me, and the bad is sometimes outweighing the good because of this.
Originally I'd planned to submit Hitch-22 to Equestria Daily after I'd completed the third chapter, but I don't think I'm going to. For one thing, it's a bit of a niche sell, for another, while I'm not embarrassed by it, it's not me. I don't want it to define my work in this fandom. It's a strange little side project that I'm doing because I can, and because it will help me on some of my weaker points by forcing me to write things I don't usually write. I'm not discouraged about the fic, just have a better perspective about what it means to me.
If you're entertained by it as well, that's just a bonus.
