For Death/The End bits, bookmarks could send you down to the part and then return you to where you were before, without requiring a whole new page to be loaded/created. I experimented with such a method in Google Docs.

It does make for a long document, though. With a story like mine, simply being able to spoiler text in the story would suffice. With one that has branching paths like Chris', I can think of a solution, although wording it is proving difficult.
