College Athletics and a Bon Bon Dies at the End Update · 10:00pm Mar 28th, 2014
I'll start this out with the BBDaTe update to save time for some of you.
Nightwalker and I are getting some work done on Bon Bon Dies at the End, chapter 2 will be up in reasonable time, and we've made some good progress with Chapters 3 and four while we've been at it. So you can look forward to that soon.
So this happened recently, this is happening, not to mention this happened, and in the biggest piece of news this just happened.
The NCAA(National Collegiate Athletics Association) is about to get screwed out of its mind like a cheap hooker.
In all seriousness, the NCAA must have the world's worst public relations team, because there is literally nothing positive coming out about them ever. Its like they hear people talking crap about them and they just sit there like, "Yep, that's us right there. We're really dumb." It blows my mind that so many huge college programs are in the red financially, they blow their money at pretty much every impulse. For example, some Division 1 football and basketball programs have better facilities than most professional teams, just for recruiting purposes.
I know an Army guy who served in Iraq not so long ago, and he played in some basketball league that they had at their base over there, and tried to get a soccer scholarship when he came back to the USA. Turns out the NCAA considers this a reason to bar someone from being able to play Division 1. I just don't even.
UNC seems to be carrying out the longstanding Division 1 Collegiate Athletic tradition of giving football players whatever the hell they want, and this surprises absolutely friggin nobody within college athletics since its literally the most backwords corrupt system I've ever seen. If I wrote a one paragraph essay in third grade my teacher would've called me retarded, this guy does it in college and he gets an A-.
As for the players that just "succeeded" in getting the right to unionize, I hope they enjoy their now taxable scholarships. I have a lot to say about this, but I'll paraphrase and just say that this very well might kill the NCAA as an organization.
The American college system makes no sense when it comes to sports. You go to college to learn, you shouldn't be there to play sports. That's what teams are for. America could have a great football league if the kids were taught to play and enjoy not btw you need to go to college to play! God damn yanks!
1968704 Hell, I'd love it if we had the rest of the world's system, the college athletics system in the USA is so absurdly corrupt at the highest level that its ridiculous. I'd be happy if we just adopted the global August-May season.
1985982 yeah go to Italy and play for Parma and work your up or palarmo with big Rhino!
