So I finished my first playthrough of Dark Souls 2. As per my usual in the Souls series did it completely blind and offline. Stuck to my paladin-style build. With that done, I think some of the Dark Souls 2 fever's receded enough to get more work done on my writing. 3k words into the latest chapter so far. That may seem like a lot done, but I'm estimating that this chapter's going to be longer than usual.
Favorite boss: Velstadt, the Royal Aegis - he's giant Garl Vinland. Not that hard, but I love the general atmosphere of the fight and his backstory. And he's giant Garl Vinland!
Least favorite boss: Wandering Magus and the Congregation. I did not think it was possible to make the Pinwheel fight easier.
Favorite area: Drangleic Castle and Undead Crypt. Love the atmosphere, especially the rain. You can even see the water you track inside the castle. The Undead Crypt has dual-shield wielding giant knights.
Least favorite area: The Gutter and Black Gulch. Dark and confusing architecture, annoying enemies, poison darts flying everywhere.
Fuck. Those. Poison statues.
For real, those things were annoying as all get out. It took me hours to get through Black Gulch because I felt the compulsive need to smash each and every one of those bastards into dust.

Surprisingly, it helped me with the Rotten. When I saw the opening cut scene, I thought 'You're the one building these fucking statues?' Got so pissed that I rushed him and managed to immediately chop off one of his arms.
It's looking like people are enjoying the game. I'll have to wait until it comes out on PC to play it myself.

not sure how well i am progressing, going all over the place hoenstly. managed to slay the last giant, pursuer, the covetus demon, that freaky decapitated medusa thingy, that freaky two torso bastard from the pirate ship, skeleton lords as well............. can't remember the rest. though i am certain i am nwohere near the end.
any tips on character specing? diong fairly well with my totally blind method of specing, even managed to get my hands on some spells.
perhaps this is just a noob discovery for me, but did you know that if you equip two copies of the same spell that it will give you more charges for that spell? i did not know that they stacked, nor do i know if they do so in the previuos game. fairly certain if you had more copies it would stack more, but unfortunately i only got two of two pryomancy spells.
dark souls, thy mechanics continue to boggle.
Just finished watching "This is how you don't play Dark Souls 2" on youtube. DSP's ineptitude is hilarious yet again. 1 hour and 25 minutes of entertainment.
Favorite moments

Lost Sinner stabbing his ass whenever he stupidly decides to drink an estus flask in front of the boss.
Looking Glass Knight kicking his ass.
His complete failure to defeat the Ancient Dragon.
Vendrick repeatedly kicking his ass despite having a ridiculously simple attack pattern.
His dumbassery getting Ornifex killed.
His grand total of 283 deaths for his first playthrough despite having a live stream chat to help him and grinding a lot.
His total play time being 91 hours on his first playthrough.
The gutter was terrible first time through, but not too bad when you know it. I actually ran in on +5 difficulty the other day. 20 minutes into the run, no deaths, rotten was done for, wasn't ever poisoned.
Anyway, glad to know that the fic is gonna be getting updates "soon".
