Got a few story ideas and projects coming down the way. Here's a preview.
-I think I get it: Another zen adaption, hopefully a better story that Realize.
- Occultus Modis Harmoniae: not really a story, but an essay on the hidden aspects of the Elements of Harmony, by Twilight Sparkle
-Lucifer's Wonder: I will change this stories name and update it. Eventually.
I've been thinking ever since Realize, of making a zen story series, however it's notoriously difficult to write stories based on zen. Western audiences aren't that familiar with it and a lot of zen stories are, to be frank, anti climatic.
Occultus Modis Harmoniae (name may change) is something completely different, and I've been looking forward to it's release. Straight forward, it's an intellectual dry read on the aspects of the elements of harmony. Don't expect anything from it if this isn't you thing, but if it is, you'll be pleasantly suprised...or you'll disagree wholeheartedly with it and engage in an epic flame war with me.
Lucifer's Wonder. Goddammit. I want to write this story, but I've been absorbed in Rainbow Burger. As it stands the ratio is horrible, but the first chapter had been rewritten since then. I don't want to talk about what it looked like before. Ugh. I have to meditate on this story. For reasons. I like taking bad, cliche ideas, and trying to give them a different spin, but I'm not sure if it'd work with this one. HiE, enters Equestria via Death, possesses body of one of the mane 6, Serious attitude problem...cliche'd the fuck up. Should be horrible. That's why I chose to start doing a story like this, however it might be beyond me if I can't write the second FREAKING MOTHER FUCKING CHAPTER!
Eh..heheh. Sorry. Got frustrated there.
Hrmmm. Well, I may be atypical, but I like the idea of more zen stories. I just like different points of view, especially nigh inexplicable truths, though I can't confess to automatically understanding them all.
I think as long as they're short, it should be fine.
You have my interest... As long as you can keep it entertaining, I'd love to read something like that. Direct, but not too dry. Of course the real problem will be coming up with some intriguing concepts about how they work and the ramifications behind them, perhaps. That's what will be carrying it, as well as the tone and level of vocabulary (personally I like to think I have a decent vocab, but something on China MiƩville's level will just throw me for a loop.)
Do you need a sound board? Or is it just the usual "I really meant to do this, but I keep getting sucked into that"?
Truth be told, I think some cliches are harder to write well than others, but this isn't on the same level as the red and black alicorn, at least.
