A Needed FoE Crossover, "Fatal Frame," · 5:41am Mar 24th, 2014
Like I said this is gunna be a regular thing so let's talk about another little known thing shall we? Last week I talked about an anime well now we're on MY TURF PEOPLE! Welcome to gaming.
We all know Resident Evil, Silent Hill, maybe Clock Tower? (Look Survival Horror is a very odd genre and there's not much to work off of so sorry I can't think of a third classic.) Well anyway I'm here to talk about a little known series of Survival Horror by Tecmo known as Fatal Frame.
This series has spanned four games, a couple re-makes, and a 3DS spinoff. So what's it about? Fighting ghosts. With what you may ask? Well you know how legends say photos can capture spirits? Well let me present you all with the Camera Obscura.
I won't go into much details on the camera (that's what the wiki links for), all you need to know is its a magical camera that can capture ghosts.
I think you all get the picture (pun not intended) as to the point of this game. Fight ghost's with a magic camera, so translating it into FoE.
If I may borrow something from JustMoth's story Sights, Sounds, Souls (hope he won't mind). This story is set up in a way that its told in three ways. Sights in the form of a diary much like his previous work Wings, Sounds as audio logs on youtube, but the one we want is the Souls part. Told as a normal story. The story is about a soul bound to one of the characters after he's killed by them to quote him, "Try as I might, I couldn’t stop being dragged along with them. Was this what happened every time somepony kills somepony else, the murdered pony’s spirit follows them around? Would that mean raiders might have a whole community of ghosts silently traveling them?"
I bring this up because of the implications, if a ghost is forced to forever follow the one who ended them wouldn't they harbor ill will? I'd like to direct you all to the second part again, "Would that mean raiders might have a whole community of ghosts silently traveling them?" Think about it. Let me set it up.
I've said before that redeemed raider is a cliche but that's the best thing I can think of to have a metric crap ton of deaths. Though it doesn't need to be redeemed maybe he's still a psychopath? Or maybe they're a hero not a raider? Again this is just a possibility. So imagine it our protagonist enters into a mansion for one reason or another. Inside there it is a camera.
They pick it up and when they look within it they see the souls of those who have been following them. Now this is where it gets odd see when they picked it up the souls got the ability to move again, naturally they use it to seek revenge. And they can fight, but when our hero tries to fight back they can't their weapons don't work.
Eventually they discover that they can fight back with the camera.
As it goes on we learn about the protagonist's past from the major ghost fights, about the camera from documents left by whatever made it (cult? Ministry? Some crazy stallion with to many bits on their hooves?), all while they're battling the ghosts that want him dead.
It's explained about how the camera acts with the magic of all beings from Equestria allowing them to basically transcend into a state of being both alive and dead therefore allowing them to capture the ghosts.
Overall there's some major potential for interesting story telling elements, some genuine suspense/scares, and a fun time.
So there you all go this weeks needed FoE crossover. I hope you all enjoy this idea I've set forth and I really hope someone takes it and rolls with it.
I'll see you all Saturday for my episode reaction, or sooner if something comes up that I need to bring up with you all. For now I'm out.
Remember as always tell me what you think, any suggestions for this idea, if you're interested in doing this story, or something you think could work in Fallout Equestria.
I'll leave you all with what first introduced me to the series. Princeboo21's LP of the third game (the last LP of his I watched religiously I need to get back to him he was the first I really watched and he's good but that's for another day).
Hear of Fatal Frame but never did play it. Nice ideas in the blog too.

I'll keep FoE X Infamous in mind (love those games), but I haven't played Second Son yet (don't have a PS4) want to. My main complaint is that they just did a cop out to continue the series since at the end of Infamous 2 all the conduits are supposed to be dead then they just changed it to say nope not ALL of them but a good game is a good game.

Actually just looked it up and I can see no reason given. They just are.
